Guys, what dishes would you be most impressed if your girlfriend made for you as a surprise? To get me to pick your answer as best, you'll have to include a main dish and a dessert.

Well, I'm always most impressed if she cooks breakfast for me because after a long night of....."hard work" between us, to wake up in the morning and find her all made up, dressed up with her hair done and make up on properly with a plate of breakfast, well, enough said. It's impressive and a real turn on.

The hearty breakfast dish that would really have me turned on is if she made me:

1. Cup of strong espresso roast coffee
2. Glass of orange juice

3. A Salty Breakfast dish as follows:

Poached eggs with smoked salmon paprika sprinkled with crushed or reduced cilantro and green onions sprinkled on the eggs (which are sandwiched between two toasted and butter english muffins).

Four "degreased" slices of bacon and some polenta (w/reduced kale).

4. For the sweet dish, a fluffy souflee pancake with bananas and pineapples on top; lemon zest/rum in the batter with a white truffle garnish.

Guys love a hearty breakfast and more than anything, they prefer their woman to be up early looking all "pretty'ed up" while having it ready to chow down.

It just makes the whole morning start like a sunrise you'd wish would become idle for the remainder of time.

Hi Ash,

Your question is very complex. You understand people (including guys) are different.

If he says he likes different types food, and you can't get him to narrow down the food he mostly enjoys. If you can, consult with his father, not his mother, because moms only cook what she wants .
If you able to consult with is father, and he still insist for you to cook anything you want, give him the choices in which you are really good at cooking well. For ex. if your stakes, potatoes, corn and peas are your specialty, tell them this is what you have plan.

If you desire another option, talk to him about food as a main subject and then you will learn his likes and dislikes in food.

Start with a simple green salad, then spaghetti and sauce, garlic bread and either green beans or sweet corn. For desert a piece of cheese cake with cherries on top. I would even do the dishes when we were done.

For the main course I'd like steak and some veggies, maybe some gravy and BBQ sauce... for dessert, maybe a banana split or chocolate covered strawberries.... hmm.... maybe her dipped in chocolate...

Duck à l'Orange

one cut up duck,
½ cup of your favorite wine,
1 tablespoon of orange peelings,
2 tablespoons of minced garlic,
2 tablespoon of salad oil,
1 tablespoon of cornstarch,
1 ¼ cups of orange juice,
1 tablespoon of molasses,
¼ teaspoon of ginger, and
1 cup of mandarin oranges sections.

You should have about 1 pound of duck per person. Heat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Stab the duck with a fork in several places and place in a roasting pan. Pour the wine over the cut up duck and bake for about 25 minutes per pound, basting once every 5 minutes.

In a saucepan, add the orange peel and sauté for just a few minutes, and then add the cornstarch and stir until smooth. Add the orange juice slowly and mix, then add the honey and stir until well blended. Once the mixture is blended well add the remaining wine. Simmer for 1 minute and then add the ginger and the mandarin orange slices and then continue cooking for about 5 minutes. Serve along side the duck or pour over your ducks

Crème Brûlée

8 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup granulated white sugar
1/4 cup granulated white sugar (for the caramelized tops)
2 cups heavy cream

Preheat oven to 300ºF. In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is thick and pale yellow. Add cream and vanilla, and continue to whisk until well blended. Strain into a large bowl, skimming off any foam or bubbles.

Divide mixture among 6 ramekins or custard cups. Place in a water bath and bake until set around the edges, but still loose in the center, about 50 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven and leave in the water bath until cooled. Remove cups from water bath and chill for at least 2 hours, or up to 2 days. When ready to serve, sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of sugar over each custard. For best results, use a small, hand-held torch to melt sugar. If you don't have a torch, place under the broiler until sugar melts. Re-chill custards for a few minutes before serving.

I would be surprised at anything my girlfriend cooked for me because I don't expect her to cook for me. I'm more of a dessert person, so it would have to be something chocolate, if she did.

Ask him what he likes best!
He will be glad you did, rather than just making something someone else likes!
If you are going to cook a meal for me though, make some bonesless buffalo chicken, french fries and cheesecake.
