You cannot be infected with malaria if you have sickle cell anemia. Consequently, people from regions that have high malaria rates have a higher incidence of sickle cell anemia.

I did some research which seems to say that you could possibly live longer than normal. For more info. you should prob. ask your doctor. Good Luck!

there is no advantage, unless you think there would be any good reason to have kids with the disease someday
