My cat is seemingly in heat, and I was wondering if we should worry about her bleeding? I've noticed that dogs may bleed at this time, but do cats?
Any help would be wonderful.

We are calling the vet to get her spayed today. Please...just out of courtesy...stop telling me to take her in. Thank you.

Yes, cats bleed too. If they go into heat and are not mated, they will have what is the equivalent of a human period--only incredibly lighter.

She needs to be seen by a vet immediately. You can discuss options for spay after she's examined. Bleeding from the vagina indicates an emergency situation. Go! Cats don't bleed during heat like dogs do.

This website says no. http://www.cat-pregnancy-report.com/cat-is-pregnant.htmlYour Cat Is Pregnant? Read these FAQ

No. A female cat does not bleed when she's in heat. If she bleeds shortly after a heat cycle it could mean she has a miscarriage.

You should call a vets office and see what they say. Maybe your kitty has an infection in her uninary tract area. I hope she is well.

yes, they do, but just a little bit. Not as much as a dog. If you are not planning on breeding your cat, you should seriously think about getting it spayed. It will help the over population of cats in this world.

Cats mostly spot bleed. They will come into their first heat at about one year old and will remain in heat until they are bred. Cats hormones can continue in heat mode for years and this overproduction of hormones and failure to breed may result in infections and death to the cat. Of course we don't want our cats to breed, so please have your cat spayed. And to that dolt, wuxxler, the amount is not proportionate to the color or type of fabric of furniture for god's sake! They bleed the same, it's just that you would see it more on white than black and I sure hope that's what he meant!

Yes they do. The amount is directly proportional to where they are sitting - if they are on a white sofa or a light colored carpet, they bleed a lot, and often. If they are on a black leather chair that is easy to clean, they hardly bleed at all...
Your vet or local pet store sells a diaper she can wear that you insert a disposable pad into.
PLEASE GET YOUR CAT SPAYED. There is absolutely no shortage anywhere in this world of cute cuddly kittens, we don't need any more!

female cats will spot a little when they are in heat.... SOMETIMES. if it gets out of control, take the cat to the vets, it could be something else, like a UTI

I don't know but you should try asking www.AnimalPlanet.com or don't be afraid to call a Veteranarians office/Pet hospital and ask your question. I'm Pretty sure they would not charge you if you asked them, Though they may tell you to schedule an appointment.

A tomcat's penis has barbs, so a female may bleed after mating. That's why they're so noisy.
