Poor grmmar is a horrible thing. It can hurt later on in life. It can turn into a habbit which can be hard to break. Imagine writing a resumé and using this 'online' chat slang. Goodbye any chance of getting a job. I'm a teenager and I cannot stand poor grammar. I mean, we all make mistakes sometimes, but this is unnecessary.

Sadly, grammar and spelling, along with correct punctuation are going the way of the dinosaurs. I do judge people by their writing, whether it's correct for me to do so is another topic of debate. No matter how cute the guy is, if he can't write correctly, or even moderately well, it's a big turn off for me. And I really, like, hate, like, the word, like, every other word.
No one learns sentence structure any more. I used to work in a college admissions office, so I got to read the application essays. it made me cringe. If nothing else, people should learn to use the spell check feature, or have someone else proof-read important things like entrance essays.
Okay, I'm an intellectual snob, I admit it. Satisfied?

Love the writers, hate the writing :-)

I don't have as big a problem with "2" as you do (although of course it's not how people talk... there's no way to differentiate verbally whether you're saying "to," "two," "too," or "2"), because it's simple shorthand, kind of like @. But when the messages become cluttered with more shorthand than longhand, when the subjects and verbs can't agree, and when misspellings outweigh the real words? Yeah, my teeth start to ache.

Perhaps if they learned to touch type, their grammar and spelling would better match Standard English. It can be really frustrating not being able to put down fast enough what you want to say. My 6yr old has the same problem. He want to say a lot but cannot write fast enough so it comes out abbreviated. Touch typing should be compulsory in school as part of core literacy skills, learnt from about 8yrs of age.

I'm a teenager too and I seriously hate it when people use bad grammar. I wanna throw a dictionary at them or something. I swear, did English class not teach you anything all those years of school? They're just lazy. -_-

Teenagers love to be idealistic and complete. Even I was so when I was a teenager.
You will stand up people who have a horrible knowledge of grammar when you grow up. Believe me its true.

I think it's ok. It depends on how much they use it and where. For example, here I prefer normal sentences. In chat rooms, a little is ok. But the top part that you did was WAY too much! I used to always use all the abbreviations and stuff (u=you, 4=four, etc.) but now I try not to as much. I use some abbrev. though (pract.=practice, pop.=popular, abbrev.=abbreviation, etc.) but they are fairly easy to read and I rarely use them.

No you are not. I feel the same way as you. It really angers me when a person is talking/walking and they are making silly mistakes. For examples, when teenagers are talking they have the tendency to say "they was" This really send me off.

I can't stand it either. I'm a preteen and always hear things like that. The one I hear the most is the confusion of brought and bought. I can't stand my piano teacher writing stuff that don't make any sense in my notebook.

I cannot stand people with horrible grammar, online or off. I also judge the intelligence of said people regardless of if they behave in consistently coherent ways or not.
