what can you do to unclogg an ear?

Whatver you do, do NOT try to dig the wax out of your ear by inserting anything into the ear canal! This can actualy impact the wax even further, which can make it very difficult to extract the wax. Also, when you use a q-tip, it is important to only swab the area outside of the ear canal and not the inside of the ear canal as you can possibly damage your ear drum.

In the past, I have held a wash cloth soaked with hot water against my ear ( I had pain), and it seemed to feel much better. It actually drained the wax from my ear, which releaved a lot of the pressure. If all else fails, I would make an appointment with either an ear specialist ( an otologist) or with your general practice doctor so that they can unclog your ear for you.

Also know that soap buildup from with you bathe ( shampoo getting into your ears) can lead to wax buildup. Tile your head from side to side when you get out of the shower to make sure that you can get as much water as possible out of your ear.

Having worked for in otology office, this is the best information that I can give you! Best of luck!

It could be an ear infection or swimmers ear and if that's the case, a doctor needs to help you with the "unclogging" part of it hun, with antibiotics.

If it's ear wax build-up they sell a drop at the pharmacy for earwax that will help loosen it up. Then, use a water pick (just like a doctor would use if you went to your doctor.....) and gently put it right by the opening of your ear opening (not into it like puncturing your eardrum....) and have your head laying sideways and flush out your ear with the warm water. You will feel a slight uncomfortable feeling, like a little pressure but that's because the water's down in there. For the first time though, I suggest letting a trained professional (your Dr.) do it for you, then in the future if you have the same problem you know what to do from witnessing it firsthand. Ya know?

Good luck!

I've had this happen, and it actually wasn't earwax. I even had my ears cleaned out by a nurse, and it didn't change anything. In my case, I had some kind of allergic reaction to something, the doctor said it might have been mold spores (i lived in a really old house for a while). It was congestion, and he said to just take a decongestant like Sudafed. It cleared up, but it took a couple of weeks.

Try an ear candle. This is a great ancient technique for safely cleaning the ears. You can find these candles for about $2 each and feel immediate effects. Look for ear candles at nutrition shops and health food stores. Basically, you stick the tapered end in your ear and light the opposite end. When the candle burns down to about 2-3" above your ear, put the candle out. If you have a strong stomach, open the remaining candle to see what was vacuumed out of your ear. It's pretty nasty. The smoke warms and softens the wax, old infection, etc. and vacuums it into the candle. It is painless and easy and takes about 10 minutes. Try it out, you'll be surprised!

If its excessive earwax, they do have kits at the drug store that could help get it out. You just put some drops in and it softens the wax and it comes out. If it is something else, you should go see an ear, nose and throat doctor. You are messing with your hearing, get it taken care of.
