Use what ever your feeling, emotions, books you have read something you saw you like or hated.
Look out of the window and see the world/ trips you have taken / happy or sad memories
Friendships and relationships you have, dreams and achievements you have done
There is no limit to what you can write poems about.......anything in this world, your imagination whether it be real or fiction anything is possible.
Write about what interests you or its a way to get your feelings and emotions out, make the poems funny or crazy- its up to you
You can write about anything maybe you have a hobby or a fascination with cars or the boogy monster whatever it might be go for it.
There are no limits............go with whatever you are feeling, the more you write and think about the poems the more you will understand what type of things you like to write poems about.
Good luck.
p.s I'm no good at writing poems and think its fantastic doing something which requires so much thought and imagination.

Well if you look at everyday situations in your life like breaking up with someone or losing a friendship those are things that can help to write beautiful poems where people can feel the emotion coming from you.

Hi Zack...just look around beautiful or not so beautiful things, people, events, feelings, emotions... everything is a source of poetry, even the lack of inspiration.
Well, journals and photographes are great...that gives you perspective of before and after.

I write poems all the time. I write them about how I feel and what I'm wondering. How my emotions are. My poems are basically a rhyming diary. Poems are about your thoughts and secrets.

Look around you. What inspires you? Anything can become the cause of a poem.

Just close your eyes. Anything you can think of would make a good poem if written right.

just write about your feelings about something, like how families are or how people should get what they deserve or something you feel strongly should change, or something that you think is beautiful.... anything that expresses yourself in a way.
search on google for poem subjects i guess.
