I am travelleling to the USA and plan to buy a camera which costs around USD 600. In many parts of the world you can get the TAX component of such an expense refunded at airport or similar place.
Is there anything at LAX like this?

The US doesn't have a VAT like some countries do, that you can reclaim if you take what you bought out of the country. US sales tax is not refundable. Sorry.

Nope...as far as I know you can only get a tax exemption at the point of sale. Ex. Canadians and Oregonians that show their ID don't get hit with a 8.8% sales tax here in Washington.
