first off catholic as you write it means universal. however, ibelieve you mean Catholic as in Roman Catholic becuase they do the confirmations - abotu 7-8th grade or if a full adult in RCIA converting from another way of life....

to be being Catholic is something my parents gave me - in living a life filled with faith and training me in the manner in which i was to live my life. after walking away during some (stupidly) wild times, i'm thankful for my Catholic upbringing for it brought me back to realize -- Jesus really DOES love me!

Being a CAtholic has given me a wonderful group of people with whom i can commisurate, learn, question, grow and worship. It has taught me about the unending love and forgiveness of God. It has shown me amazing people who lived their lives - no matter what the cost - all in honour of God - Fr Kolbe, Mother Theresa, Sister Faustina, and all the other Saints. it has given me a friendship with Jesus that i never realized possible and a manner in which i can receive Him into my heart where I feel full consumed in His presence - the Mass. It has shared with me a love of Mary, Jesus Mother. She, as a female, is an amazing role model - before God choose her and before Jesus graced her womb - she was just another law abiding jewish girl. she gave up everything for God and stood by her Son. she was warned in the temple at the presentation that her "soul too a sword shall pierce so that the thoughts of many shall be known". She is God's gift to us -- for her patience, love toward family, stabllity, full comission to God. Joseph is another -- what a more visible sign of how men should treat their wives and the children entrusted to them by God.

you are lucky to be growing up Rcc in a time when you are allowed to ask, question and learn!!!

however.... what does it mean to YOU?!?!?

I would recommend reading the book - pierced by a sword - it's kind of like a Catholic end times and revelation book - it's great! www.stjudemedia.com

Good luck in your asnwers and God bless you on your homework!!

The main thing it means to me is that God loved us so much, that He sent His Son to save us. Jesus became the sacrifice, which is why we celebrate the eucharist. He said,"This is my body and blood" and that is the whole basis of Catholicism. That Jesus died for us, and celebrating and remembering that, through his death, we were saved, are saved, and will be saved. We say that in the nicene creed every mass. My suggestion: look at the mass. It is the basis for Catholicism, and should be the basis for all Christianity, but other Christian denominations tend to focus more on Christ's resurrection and less on the crucifixation and death. Yes, Jesus rose from the dead, and that is important, but other denominations also tend to overlook the importance of celebrating that Jesus died to save us. His death is more important than His resurrection.

Good Luck!

God Bless,

Dana

It means being completely in the will of God, a member of the one true Church God Himself founded for all mankind. It means absolute certainty of the truth, free from noivel manmade doctrines, because of God's gift of infallibility. Of course Protestants also claim to be certain of the "truth"; the problem is, each denomination is certain of different "truths" than the others. I mean the real truth, the actual and complete truth, the truth that Jesus Christ said would be bound in heaven when Peter and his successors bound it upon earth. Being Catholic means having the most intimate relationship with God that is possible on this earth, through the Most Holy Eucharist, Jesus Christ in the flesh, come to make His home with us and to become physically part of us. Being Catholic means obedience to God, who said that all His followers were to be one in belief, one in worship. Being Catholic means living under a fountain of grace, poured out upon us through the holy scaraments instituted by Christ. Being Catholic means, simply, living as God calls mankind to live.

Ah super question, i admire the Catholic ones :-). in simple terms positioned it means he believes in issues that are outdoors of the bibles teachings. a Christian believes the bible is all authentic and we would desire to look to the bible for training. they have faith in issues that are surpassed down from era to era. They bypass on custom fairly than biblical coaching. They pray to ineffective human beings fairly than Jesus. examine the bible and study, than bypass to a minimum of one in all your boyfriends Catholic mass and initiate up asking questions. They hate that

I am a confirmed "recovering Catholic". That means I have renounced it's fiction and am trying to undo all the harm they've done to me for the first 13 years of my life.

To me, being a Catholic gives you a license to do any harm you wish and then convess it on Sunday and have a clean slate again.

It also means having doctrine stuffed down your neck at church and then acting in opposite ways in real life.

It means repressing all normal and healthy human behaviours which supposedly makes you closer to god.

It includes, but is not limited to, shame, guilt, fear, insecurity, abuse of power, ignorance, intolerance, xeonophobia, misogyny and corruption.

Clearly you can see why I chose not to continue with this religion.

congrats. on such the next step in the catholic religion. I do believe that someone died for us. That God does listen to our prayers, but He won't always give us what we want, cuz we have to learn to help ourselves in life.I do believe that He does point us in the right direction tho.Good Luck and God Bless
