About 5 months ago, I got my first tattoo and absolutely love it. I designed something myself and had wanted one since I was a little girl. I used to draw it on with black sharpie and wear it everywhere even when I was really young!

I chose my lower back because I find that a center of balance for myself and it felt like the right spot to place this. Ever since I got the ink, so many people have been telling me how trashy lower back tattoos are are how I'm going to regret it, etc. I really love what I have and am proud of it but it feels crappy after a while to be told these things over and over. I want to say something back to those people, but what?

Hi-
I just got my first tattoo a few months back. In the same place- lower back. If a tattoo has meaning to you - and is symbolic to you, you won't regret it. The people who regret tattoos are the people who get them done on the spur of the moment, with little thought (and usually too much alcohol) or young people who get them to "rebel".

If someone says something negative about your tattoo, just remember that everyone has an opinion on everything, and it will usually not be the same as yours. Just be selective about who your share your tattoo with.

I also recommend you try to watch some episodes of Miami Ink (on TLC) which shows a lot of tattoos that have real meaning.

Celtics believed that tattoos (usually blue ink) were sacred and likened them to their soul, because no matter what someone takes from you, they can't take your tattoo.

these people are stupid jerks. they have no concept of what it means to have a tattoo, especially a meaningful one.

honestly think about it. the thought that someone is literally a tramp because they have a tattoo on their back instead of on their leg? or arm? or pelvis? ridiculous. does that mean that you can ONLY be a tramp if you have a tattoo on your lower back? honestly it is a stereotypical thing to say.

my response would be something like: i'm sorry that you are so closed minded and ignorant to think that the tattoo i have defines who i am. i hope my children don't turn out to be the way you are and i feel sorry for anyone who actually has to put up with you and your judgemental nature in real life.

I have 15 tattoos, including one on my lower back, and I have never felt guilty about any of them!

Some people think that I have entirely too many tattoos, and that I am ruining my body by doing such a thing... but in my opinion, if they don't like it, they don't have to look at it!!

The one I have on my lower back was the second tattoo I ever got. And, I have to admit that out of all of my tattoos, it's definately not my favorite.

But, it's there, and there's not much I can do about that. So I just think of what it meant to me at the time, and then I remember that it really doesn't bother me at all.

If people tell you that sort of thing, tell them to mind their own business. It's your body, not theirs.

And I assure you, some of them have got a bad tattoo somewhere (even though it may not be on their lower back), and they're probably pretty ashamed of it. So just laugh it off. :)

I have a lower back tattoo and they did seem trendy for awhile which is stupid to me. One of my guy friends called it a "tramp stamp", which I am not. I love my tattoos and if anyone says different I tell them that it's my decision and I love em (I have 2 total and plan on getting 3 more so far).
As far as regret...no way. I don't regret anything because everything I have done and haven't done makes me who I am today. We all live and learn.

Well, I have twenty-one tattoos which tends to gross people out. But after I tell them the stories associated with each of them they see that there's more to it than jsut trying to be "cool." And if people can't see past my tattoos then it's their loss because I know I'm a good person and it' sad they'll never see that.

The only comment that ever pisses me off is when people say, "You'll regret it when you're old and they start to sag."
Now it seems to me my skin isn't going to be looking too great when I'm old anyways, so I just tell them, "Old and saggy is old and saggy, regardless of whether it's tattooed or not." That usually shuts them up.

The people at my church weren't to excited to see my tats. I have an arm piece on the lower side of my forearm, one the back of my neck, and a lower back piece. At first it made me feel bad to see people's reaction to them. Then I just remember why I got the tats in the first place, it was my personal choice and I got them for the reasons that make me happy and feel good. So I say to heck with what others say. You can tell them to bug off and let you live your own life. We can't please everybody.

they lack the strength of confidence in their decision making, and believe you too will regret the decision. you see, people are always regretting the things they do in life, and I wouldnt trust a person who does. because will they regret the decisions to be near us?

you have the strength of character to know what you want, and to look how you want to. they fall for the safe option in society, and that is to trash tattoos. you fell for the personal option, to do what the hell you want without the fear of social conscience deciding your life.

regretting a tattoo is normally associated with how a person views their life anyway. they are full of regret for this and that.

you dont have to be that way.
they shouldnt feel the need to voice an offensive opinion, knowing it will target your choices you have made for yourself.

tell them to focus on their own flaws first, before commenting on what they believe are others flaws. the first flaw of theirs was assumption that you are as insignificant as they are and equally insecure in decision making.

live life your way. for better or worse, only you have to live with it.

there's nothing that you can tell people that doesn't lower yourself to their level. if you love your tattoo, so what? not everyone likes tattoos, and that's their own opinion. you're not a sl*t just because of a tattoo placement. even if you regret it in the future, wear it because it was a part of your past. don't pay any attention to ignorant people.

well, i have my whole midway from the elbow and shoulder down to my wrist tattooed, both arms. my whole back, abdomen, sides, and shoulderblades pretty much have tats all over em, at random places.

guess im an addict for tats. and yet i dont look like some biker or some overally, weird tattooed guy. guess it only fits for some ppl. but no, i never regreted them, they tell ppl who i am, cept for sme things.

and if they diss on you and tell u its thrasy, **** that man, there just a couple of uptight goody good bitches who just cant go through the pain, or they arent allowed, to get one. or they were raised to hate on them.

seriously, ignore them, they tell you that just tell them u dont give a ****, and to **** off, and that its your body not theirs. and if your not thrashy, dont fall for them.

ppl with tats are waay more gnarly. haha, but still, dont let those ppl get to you.

Forget what other people think of you. how many other people in this world have lower back tattoo's?? So, they're trashy too then right? Keep your head held HIGH. And, if your proud of it thats all that matters... Good Luck
