I recently read a forum about Josh Turner’s release of his song "Me and God". Many people thought it improper for him to so publicly express his belief in God and believed it may hurt his career. Now if you are a Country music fan you know that Josh Turner's first release “Long Black Train” was also a somewhat religious song. I personally commend Mister Turner for standing up for what he believes in. I think it is terrible that people will sit back and not stand up for their own beliefs. I have a big problem with the idea that my child can not pray in school but other children are not kept from expressing their own religion in the form of their clothing or head coverings. I find that it is sad that Christians let the expression of our religion be considered so politically incorrect. I just wanted to know if anyone else feels the way I do. If so what ideas do those people have to help correct this problem in our society?

I also wanted to remind those people who have a problem with Christianity that this country was founded on just that and the money you willingly spend still says "In God We Trust"! Why is the dollar bill not Politically incorrect?

It is good for us to stand up for what we believe in.
In the case of celebrities...it can be good (Josh Turner, Charlton Heston, etc.)...and it can have it's back-lashes.
Take for instance Tom Cruise. Because of his outspokenness on his religion...Paramount Studios let him go. He condemns people that need (not want) drugs for chemical imbalances (depression.) Funny, I didn't know he was a doctor, too. (Oh maybe he just played one in the movies...)
I agree with you on the PC stuff. Being political correct means having someone tell you how to think and what to say.
Jesus saves, forgives and LIVES!!! :o)

If they're just expressing their beliefs, it doesn't bother me and I can't imagine why that would bother anyone. And I have no problem with things like prayer in school as long as it's private and not an organized prayer session or anything like that. Although I have to disagree with the comment that this country was founded on Christianity. The founding fathers were mostly Deist, not Christian.

im fine with celebrities telling us about their religion.
and actually the 1797 treaty of tripolo says otherwise.
1797 Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11
Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
written a mere 21 years after the US was officially formed (July 4th, 1776)

I love Josh Turner and the fact he's so open about his faith makes me love him even more. Faith helps make us who we are. There is no way to live your life, privately or publicly, without your beliefs coming through. We should lead a life of example and he's doing a fine job of that.
May God Bless you.

I think it's fine. It usually tends to have a negative effect because they're seen as fanatics, or just made fun of for one reason or another. Richard Gere, Madonna, Tom Cruise.....
I don't think it's a big deal for country stars. I for one assume that they're all baptists or something.
Now, if they were to stand up and admit to being a pagan or atheist, now THAT would be saying something! That would take a lot of courage.

there's no problem of that..it's not really a big deal for those celebrities expressing their beliefs publicly.they are happy...and i think that is their way to reach the people for the Lord.

You can express your beliefs...as long as they aren't bordering on sadism like:
YOUR GOING TO BE TORTURED FOR ETERNITY FOR NOT BELIEVING AS I DO IN A LAKE OF FIRE.
