Myself and my girlfriend are going to attend this school in a few months and are looking for any and all information we can get from anyone with first hand experience.

Thanks.

I work in the restaurant/service industry in Orlando, FL and we have a Le Cordon Bleu here. From my experiences with the many cooks I have worked with who attended the school here, it is just a factory attempting to get your money and push you through. I have known plenty of horrible cooks who were still given their degree or certification or whatever just because they won't kick out the horrible ones because they represent so much money to the school. On the flip side, I have known a couple awesome talents who were able to get a decent education through them and did very well with their internship. One is now the executive chef if the restaurant he interned for only 3 years ago.

I would have to say the difference between the good and the bad ones wasn't the school though, it was their work ethic. If I could give you one piece of advice, it is be happy wherever you are at. If you are not happy at a restaurant than get out and find a new, otherwise you just won't be motivated to do your job. And we've all been around miserable cooks. Also, a good mentor can be key in your culinary career. They can give you guidance and recommendations that are priceless to your career or they can ruin you and you'll never attain anything higher than line cook, which will cost you about the price of your education. Either way, good luck.
