I want to find out EVERYTHING about scholarships. What are the different kinds? How much is an average one worth? Where can I go to find a list of scholarships? Are there any scholarships specific to UNH? Thanks.

There are four basic types of scholarships out there. They are merrit (grades), athletic, financial need (income and resources) and general characteristic. The general characteristic could be related to an ethnicity, hobby, club membership, location, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. I will provide a list of places to locate scholarshios for free.

The best place to locate scholarships is at UNH's financial aid office and website. They list both internal and external scholarships. External scholarships refers to private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies.

Second, I recommend filling out the FAFSA form because it will help you tap into need based financial aid from the federal and state governments along with the college itself.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for current high school students.

Fourth, the public library has a book listing scholarships, and some are not even listed on the web.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on the information entered into a form on the website.

Good luck!
