If she has not had a HEAT yet, it should be soon. You can examine her "nipples" to see if they REALLY stand out, or if they are still "puppy" nipples.

I suggest getting her fixed before she goes into heat. She will make a better dog if she does not. Also, you will not have to get on here to ask what to do now that she is bleeding all over your house, and then in a couple of weeks after that..."help my dog breed with a bigger dog...what do I do?" and then the whelping questions, and stuck puppies.

Please get her fixed.

I would definitely get her fixed. You will definitely be able to tell when its coming, her nipples will get bigger, and her private area will get much bigger as well. I once had a female dog that was not fixed, and she would even behave in "odd" ways before her heat cycle fully hit. She'd whine a little more, and was just weird. Granted, she was a larger dog than what you have, but dealing with that is something i will never do again. You'll have to get little diapers, and doggy panty liners. Those are fun to change. She'll probably want to take the diaper off too, so that will be a pain at first. Its just messy, the dog doesn't seem happy, and if you aren't breeding her, definitely not worth it. (keep in mind, their cycle lasts longer than the "5-7 days" human women deal with, its more like 3 or so weeks)

It might not be well for a puppy as younger as that to be external without its mom, make certain she has towels/blankets something to lie down in, if viable perhaps even a scorching water bottle or something to preserve her hot. If she's going to be an outside puppy, I could endorse maintaining her within for a couple of weeks/days first so she will be able to get used to you. Make definite your present puppy is all right and won't damage your dog. Start educating instructions each time, the earlier the larger. Dogs can go into heat as early as 8 months.

Get your dog fixed. It is so much less messy.
