I had a root canal on a front tooth many years ago...piece of cake. It was done in 3 appointments; no pain. Tooth lasted until about 4 yrs. ago when I got a plate. Why would you want them to take it out unless you were going to get a 'screw-in" tooth?

My daughter just turned 3 and a few weeks ago had a bad fall face first on a tile floor. One of her front teeth bled around the gum and appeared to be loose for a couple of days. Now the tooth does not seem to be loose, but is starting to discolor to a light brown or grayish color. What is causing this and is she likely to loose this tooth. Will she be without a tooth for the next several years, and is there anything that can be done about this? Thank you.

First off they numb the hell out of your gums, then they drill a whole in the tooth. Once they drill, they give you another shot to avoid pain. Once that is done, they pull the entire root out. Then they fill the tooth with who knows what. I think after that you get it capped. It doesn't really hurt.Good luck!
