Call them transmitter hunts! Usually in our written materials we refer to them as transmitter hunts rather than fox hunts. "Fox Hunt" tends to be informal and used when chatting about it on the repeater. I thought people were more concerned about how ham radio doesn't involve killing pigs and hamfests rarely having any ham to eat!

Don't call it a "fox hunt" if you have to descibe what it is to the audience. Unless you first describe it in 10 words or less. 10 words is all you will have before they turn off their ears. Happens all the time.

If it was called a triangulation exercise. or "find the transmitter"
The Tree-hugging-types might figure out that no foxes are involved. They MIGHT......
