Religious belief requires faith, faith does not require religious belief.
You can have faith in something none religious, but religion needs faith becasue it lacks solid proof that the beliefs are true.

Religions are man-made belief systems that provide rules for living. Sometimes this is intended to help make life easier and other times it may be more to control human behavior. It is not necessary to adhere to any particular religion to have faith in anything - not even God / Spirit / Mother Earth / Energy or whatever someone wishes to refer to a higher power.
Faith or belief in a higher power can exist outside organized religion and is often referred to as Spirituality. It is quite possible to be very dedicated to a higher power and not attend any church or adhere to any particular religion.
Even atheists may have "faith" although they would not probably not call it that. They may believe in science, or gravity, or that they themselves can run a 4-minute mile. (An Atheist is someone who is sure there is no God.)
If you consider faith from a very high perspective, all beliefs are basically the same deep down. A scientist who is an atheist most likely believes in energy and other "rules" like gravity.
Those of many religions believe in whatever they call God and if you consider the definition of Energy (always existed, always will exist) and God (always existed, always will exist) they may use different words but they are very similar concepts.

No. One can have faith in many things. You don't have to be a believer or part of any religion to have faith. Although many people (and they know who they are) like to lay claim on faith just for their particular belief.

yes, you have to believe in something otherwise what do you have faith in?
Faith is belieing to the point of knowing, without seeing
For example, i am Christian and I have faith that my marraige will be sucessful, therefore even though we are in a rough spot right now, I know my marraige will work out because I belive that God will make it successful. This means I am not going around saying, I hope my marraige works out, We are probably going to seperate...etc Instead I am saying with Faith, no matter what happens I belive God for my Marraige and it will suceed.
You dont nessarily have to be Christian to have faith, but it does depend on a higher power usually.
