An antibiotic can cause this and he could have had a negative reaction. I would reccomend immediately calling his doctor and if an appointment can't be made in the next 24 hours, i strongly reccomend calling the office and questioning them on whether or not this is normal. If it occurs again, do not hesitate but go to the Emergency room and at least get their advice. Good luck you poor thing!

not likely caused by an antibiotic... Phone the Doc or advice nurse. Bright blood would indicate it came from lower in the GI tract.... if it were upper GI the blood would be quite dark.
Regardless, seek some assistance !

Ring the hospital straight away (the ward where he has been staying and tell them what has happened).
It could be that he was straining during the process and if he wah constipated that might have caused the bleeding, but just to rest assured better ring them (the hospital) and tell them of your concern.
