and becuase she has no push, she needs help getting up. Once up she can hobble around. She got up twice on her own, shaking violently each time. She will eat treats and ate a few mouthfuls earlier, and drank some water.
She seemed to have very stiff back legs two days ago; we assumed it was becuase we had walked her for too long. The extreme hurt/weakness/stifness of legs only started this morning at 6:00. So she's had semi-symtoms for three days, and these for 12 hours.
What could this be? Feel free to ask clarifying questions.
What do we need to do? Should we encourage her to walk as much as she can? Should we encourage her to lie down?
Our vet told us previously that one baby aspirin was fine, and we have given her one every 12 hours.
SHe is a spaniel-beagle mix, old (10, or 11 we adopted her a year ago) 32 pounds.
Thankyou so much.

It sounds like a spinal inflammation. I would recommend resting her as much as possible, until you can get her to a vet. No, walking more will only aggravate the problem at this stage..You can put a towel under her waist to give you a grip to help her up, so she can go to pee, etc..and bring her food and water to her until she sees the vet. Offer her unsalted broth to encourage fluids, as that is more important than eating.
If she was able to have a nice long walk the other day, she will likely make a good recovery and have a good long life yet..but, she really needs to see a good vet.

There can be different things going on with your dog. The best thing to do is to actually take her in to the vet to get an exam.
One day my boyfriend and I came home to find that his Boxer could not walk on his hind legs whatsoever. Everytime he tried to stand up he wobbled and feel down. Eventually he stopped trying. We end up rushing him to the vet to find out that his tendons were shot. He was put on pain meds and was give sedditives. Luckily he recovered, because there was a rare chance of him recovering.
My poodle mix on the other hand was walking fine one week and the weekend came around ahd she did not care to move much. She would hardly go outside and pee and eventually she got to a point where she could not stand on her legs at all. She would try to walk on her legs but feel over and swayed left to right and eventually collapse. She ate a bowl of rice and ham that we made specially for her to get her to eat and we got her to drink some water. However there was basically nothing we can do. We took her to the vet and everything was fine and got blood test but those came back find. The outcome was that she passed away 3-4 days after showing the symptoms.
So the best thing to do is take your dog to the vet and have them do a physical check up on your dog. They will look and touch areas of the dog's leg and come to a conclusion based on the physical exam. There may be nothing wrong with your dog physically and that can only mean the worse; however, there may be a fact that something simple. Good Luck.

I have an 11 year old black lab who is doing the same thing. It is mostly because of his arthritis, and just because he played really hard when he was a puppy.
It is good for her to walk around some, because otherwise her legs will get stiff. You may need to lift her up. Make sure she's going to the bathroom! Baby asprin is good sometimes, but i think that it will build up in her system, at least that's my understanding. We give my dog Rimadyl, which i think is an anti-imflamatory. I'm not really sure, but it helps. You're vet can probably give you a prescription for something. I'm not a vet, but my uncle is, so i help out there sometimes. I hope your dog feels better!

first of all, don't assume the worse in the dying response. take her to the vet. sounds like arthritis or a back "back", spine. The vet can do xrays, take her in the morning on an empty stomach(take food up before you go to bed) if possible. most dogs have to be sedated when xraying. if that is all the problem is, they may put her on something like previcox or deramax. which is for just that kind of problem, especially in older dogs. you may want to look at weight loss as well

It may be arthritis, my dog had it and my dog Max (found as a stray) has it now in his back legs he has simalar symptoms (legs shaking, weakness when standing up) but he also has a weak stomach and a heart condition. Take her to the vet that is how I found out what was wrong with him.

Sounds like arthiritis. Poor baby. Continue to give her the baby asprin, and moves thigns for her, so she doesn't have to walk to far.
You are a wonderful person for adopting an old dog!

Maybe its arthritis. My dads 12 yr old dog has it. He has a very hard time getting up. The vet gave him medicine for it. Or perhaps she is just getting up there in age and its becoming harder for her. Just make her as comfortable as possiable.

You need to get Xrays done on her to see if she has any bone problems. And Geriatric blood work also to see if she is healthy enough to put on medications to help her with the pain she is in. Please don't let her suffer.
