Peace!
It is contemplative prayer which is spirit to Spirit prayer. Some people call this centering prayer. This is how Jesus prayed when he went up to the mountain to pray. This was also the prayer he used during that terrible agony in the garden. Some Christians call this charismatic prayer with a lot singing, praising and dancing. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I am a contemplative but I also pray spontaneously.
God bless!

The word "in" in the Bible basically means compatible with. So to pray at all times in the Spirit would mean being compatible with the nature of the Spirit of God. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control. So for an example when people roll on the ground and bark like dogs and then say this is praying in the spirit, you know it is not because the Spirit of God is a spirit of self control, so if someone loses self control they are not praying in the spirit.

This was among the instructions to the Church at Ephesus. The prayers were not to be to man but to GOD. Those prayers were to continue (always).
