Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

First give you dog a flea bath with flea shampoo.
after this vacuum your whole house. This is important
throw the vacuum bag away right then! Dont let it sit the fleas will escape or eggs will hatch inside of the bag.
Than after 24 hours go get frontline or advantage. That should help. If you want to treat the out side or the your rug there are numerous things you can buy

Frontline Plus for dogs works well for my dog so I would recommend that for any other dog, Advantage is a little cheaper but doesn't do as much as Frontline Plus does. You can shampoo your carpet so that fleas in the carpet can be removed, spray insect killer pellets in your yard if your dog goes outdoor. Wash all your sheets and comforters. Wash yourself and hair thoroughly.

I wouldn't go with the flea collar, it doesn;t seem to work as well as topical applications like Frontline Plus or Advantage. The vet assistant at my vet told me that there were incidences that flea collers caused death in dogs so I stayed away from that. But same with all flea killers/preventers theres risks. Make sure you apply Frontline or Advantage correctly so you dog won't ingest it through licking it.

Get a good flea medicine for the dog. Then go to the pet store and get a flea spray for the inside and outside. Vacuum the house real good. You can also get a flea bomb, but then you need to leave the house for a few hours.

Advantage is apparently quite goood, although if you have the problem like I do where there are zillions under the house and the dog frequents under there you have a problem where there will always be some present. Just frequent washing with flea shampoo and keeping flea treatment up to date is about all you can do.

You probably have what seems like a recurring problem..but problably their in your home...so you need to thoroughly bug bomb your home, and de-flea yourself, dog, bedding, etc in your entire home..do this at one time or else they'll hide in one place while you're cleaning the other.

To keep fleas from reproducing my vet recommended and I use Sentinel as an oral monthly tablet..it prevents heartworm and keeps fleas from reproducing..it does not kill adults fleas. To keep fleas from jumping onto my dogs (and I take them to human and dog parks, walks, pet fairs, etc) I bathe them in with regular dog shampoo, rinse, than bathe them in water treated with Avon Skin So Soft Original Scent bath oil. I learned this from several dog owners who've owned dog more than twenty years and it's helped me..I (knock on wood) have not had any fleas yet in over two years of dog social events, fostering rescue dogs, and owning my own two pups.

yick! Don't let your dog into your bed for starters, then take him to the vet and ask for "Advantage", it's medicine that will get rid of them on your dog. Next, wash your sheets and vaccuum a lot. Putting a flea collar inside the vaccuum bag will help to prevent them from crawling back out of the vaccuum. Vacuuming stimulates flea eggs to hatch, so by going over an area twice, you can help eliminate them faster.

Advatage works great - you can get it online at 1800petmeds - you can get it from your vet too but they will charge you a fortune. Its really good - just a dot on the head and the fleas will be gone.
Once you use the dot on the dog the rest of the fleas will die too!

You should try first by getting flea medicine for your dog then you should change your sheets, next you could maybe ask a doctor.

Showering wont kill them, I heard vasaline does but use tweezers to get them out. As for you're dog, he needs a flea and tick collar I get mine at the vets as well as frontline, don't get the cheap ones 'cause I don't think they work as well just get frontline.
