whatever you do dont get a patch test done coz once its there its there no matter where it is.im a tattooist from rotherham at a shop thats been established for 30 years and from my expirience ive never had anybody whos skin doesnt accrpt the ink.my advice is to really think about what ur going to get.i made the mistake by rushing into it and regreting it and many other ppl do too! also find the right tattoo artist as there are a few cowboys out there.best of luck all the best x

What alot of people don't realise is that some people react to certain inks. If this happens it is usually the skin around the tattoo and not the tattoo itself that is affected, this is usually an acne like rash that appears and can be treated with skin cream.
My advice is to talk to your GP and a good tatooist that you have personal recomendations for (perhaps ask on yahoo if anyone knows a good tatooist in so and so). They will be able to give you far better advice than anyone here (unless they are a docter or tattoo artist then my apologies!).
And Caitlinxxx if you don't know don't say, especially when people are asking about their health.

your best bet is to have a chat with the artist and go through your options a good artist should be prepared to test your skin with a tiny dot or line to see how it takes but i have never heard of skin rejecting ink if u r realy worried see your gp but a tattoo artist should help but have a look around first u don t want to be infected so find a nice clean shop

if you want to get a tattoo i would suggest something small and simple and in a hidden place to start with. just to see how your skin will take it. who knows if it will work or not. if after a few months your skin heals well and has no adverse reactions then you could go and get an actual tattoo.
but to start i would just get something very very simple that, even if it messed up wouldn't look bad. then you would have a cool story behind it.

sounds silly but you could always try a really tiny one, or go and ask your local tatooist, they are qualified they should know =). and it might not be the fact that it's an injection, it may just be the actual fluid that might have caused the reaction?
i've seen a few of my friends' go infected, but thats because they picked the scab off before it had healed (big no no!) and had gotten dirt in it, so not only did it go badways, it also faded...double whammy of disappointment.
but yeah, good luck with the tattoo mate =)

I'm all for tattoos but I wouldn't take a chance. I have very sever allergic reactions that have put me in the hospital before. If were any other reason I wouldd say go for it, but don't play around with your health

My body rejected my belly piercing but I have 7 tattoos... I would sit down and talk to an artist and he or she might be able to use a different ink...

just because you have a rejected piercing doesn't mean the tattoo won't take. my body rejects piercings, but i was able to tattoo. just make sure that your first is in a place where, if it did reject, the scar wouldn't bother you. be careful, and make sure you go to a place that is clean and sterile. think long and hard about what you want to get, and where. it's a permanant thing.

If you REALLY want to get ink, get a spot test. See if the artist will do a 1 cm line or spot somewhere hidden.
If it doesn't get sick looking, your okay.

ALL skin takes tattoos. The ink is put into it and can't "leak" out.
