There are 5 free sources to locate scholarships and grants without giving out credit card information. These can be located on the web or in your local community.
First, I recommend filling out the FAFSA form because it will help you tap into need based financial aid from the federal and state governments along with the college itself.
Second, the college's financial aid website and office has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.
Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for current high school students.
Fourth, the public library has a book listing scholarships, and some are not even listed on the web.
Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on the information entered into a form on the website.
Good luck!

you can apply for the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov, go to ed.gov for general information, go to the school's website for institutional information, as the financial aid office or your hs guidance counselor if there are any state grants and what site you can go to for more information. Search scholarships on www.fastweb.com and www.scholarship.com. And you are correct never pay a dime for financial aid!

Hi Terri
You can go to the schools he is interested in, they will have a list of grants they sponsor, all schools that offer grants will also have pell grants, my biggest suggestion is to stay away from bank loans for students, it will come back to bite you and more so him. you can also look in to work grants that offer students jobs when they complete school, the work industry is hungry for top notch grads who have grade point averages of 3.6 or higher..
I wish your son well and hope he gets the jobs he's looking for..
