symetery would be the first obvious answer. Most body parts, internal or external, are in pairs, one on the left and one on the right. Parts that are centrally located are singular. This no doubt has to do with basic DNA and reproduction. We grow from a zygote to a fetus, to an embryo, all the while cells are duplicating themselves. Symetry is a natural condition based on this method of growth.
It is handy that we have 2 ears and two eyes, because it makes the sensory input from these organs more valuable. With only one ear, we could not as easily discern the direction or origin of sounds. The slight difference in the sound waves we hear in each ear help us to know where to look when we want to identify a sound. Two eyes give us the ability to better judge depth, if we only had one eye, we would struggle to function as well.

You need two because of the size and location of each ear drum. My firend is deaf in one ear, and can't really hear when people are on that side of her.... However I like the answer "You are suppose listen twice as much as you speak."

two ears to hear from both sides and one mouth because most people have big/loud mouths so they don't need two.

The reason is so that you can hear people sneaking up on you to steal your Doritos.
You also got two eyes and only one nose..
Your two eyes see who is sneaking up on you from each side, while your nose smells the Doritos you are eating.
Ever wondered why your eyes are not located on the side of your head like a birds eyes are?

So I can say "the better to hear you with dear" and then shut up, so don't waste the use of my one mouth, so I type...Why? Is the answer really funny?

think about how we would look with two mouths and one ear.
then imagine the hassle of brushing two sets of mouths and the cost of two sets of braces.
and then the world would just keep talking and talking and no one would listen.
