Is terrorism a part of islam or is that a myth?

yes there are many verses that are quoted from the Quran that include the word "kill" to make people believe it is evil. but when the verses are read in context its obvious that its self defense.
this one verse disproves anything you say of islam being intolerant or "evil."
"Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice." The Noble Quran, 60:8

I want you to ignore the stereotype of a muslim today and just look at the verse and tell me if it preaches violence? Please no disrespect. i dont want to sound preachy or anything i just want to take away some of the misconceptions toward islam today. thank you.

you are the one quoting out of context!! the verse before that says "Of no profit to you will be your relatives and your children on the Day of Judgment: He will judge between you: for Allah sees well all that ye do. " and thats the reason of the example given!

yes anyone who attacks anyone else without them attacking first is not following the teachings of islam!! the verses in the Quran that talk about killing are referring to war and self defense. it doesn't say to kill every non-muslim!!

Islam is based on the Quran not the followers. its not right to say islam is evil just by looking at the terrorists. if that were true you would still be injust by judging by the bad examples and not the good.

islam is one of the most peaceful religions in the world. islam is not an oppressed religion and a lot of websites and books are around that translate the Quran in a wrong manner, to try to fool ppl. It's like they take part of a verse and make it sound like the total opposite. There are verses in the bible that mention stoning ppl and stuff like that, but i dont see ppl making a BIG deal about it.

There are hardcore Christians(a minority) who are against every religion but their own. There are those devoted to demonizing other religions because they know their religion is correct without a doubt which justifies their hatred toward other religions. Islam is in the spotlight and will be demonized by America due to the war on terror. I guess the war in their eyes proves their ideology. History also proves the bias and prejudices Christians have done to other faiths.

Why did you quote Surah 60 out of context?

Just before aya 8, is this:

So Allah himself says that its "excellent" to hate non-muslims. Why? Cause they are non-muslim!

By the way, why do you think we care what the right interpretation is? We dont, we only care about how much violent interpreytation the Quran manifests.
