When you first get a girl's number is it better to call her or text her to start getting to know each other? And if you are texting how do you know if she is interested?

text, absolutely. you may get confused while talking to her if you really like her so you better avoid that by writing something nice.
you'll figure wheter she's interested or not, girls know how to show that.

Call her. Its so 'modern day' to text someone. Texting is for people who dont have time to call the person, are too pov *** to spend money on the call to their mobile, and if she gave you her number she wants you to call (otherwise she woulda given you her postal address so u could send her postcards an other little messages!). Before mobile phones were the big 'craze' (in the nineties) you would just call the person because as you also asked, texting cant show emotion or reaction to what the other person is saying (so how do you konw if they are interseted, she might joke about something an you could take her seriuosly). Just call her, good luck =)

If she's not interested at all, she's unlikely to give you her number. Calling is fine...texting (initially) makes you seem a bit fearful actually.

I'd say call. When you text it does indeed make you look fearful and there's no real initial way to tell if she's interested or not. If you call and she's with her friends she'll say to call her back. No biggie.

i think u should call her first because that way u really know if she's really feelin u or not i mean if u text her u cant really tell n its just better to talk to her and hear how she reacts.

Just text first and ask if its a good time to call. if not, just wait for her to call you. and then to tell, you just can, but in case you can't, she'll send smilies or she'll text you alot
