Here's the thing, right now, tan skin is on the verge of making the Spring Break comeback. So, right now white or light is preferred because most people lose their tan over the winter and fall. That's what I've noticed. I'm a Cherokee/Irish, so my skin is either white or brown, there isn't much in-between for me. All I know is that the tanner I am, the more likely I am to get a job... But, this is in my experience. You have to decide for yourself.

I believe that there are different reason for why people like other people with certain skin colors...

Most of the time, people tend to like, and gravitate toward, people with a similar coloring--not always, but a lot of the time.

Also, people tend to like what they've grown up around. A white person and grow up in a black community and will probably be more inclined to like a black person because that's what they're used to.

So here in America, as most people are white, you may perceive that white skin is more preferred because, in turn, there are more people inclined to like white skin. Make sense?

Now don't get me wrong, some people don't have a preference. They just like people in general with no regard to color.

I, personally, don't have a preference. Skin color is just skin color; it doesn't ultimately matter, but some people do prefer a certain color.

Preferred to what? I don't feel that statement carries any weight because "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Your statement would only be true if everyone truly did prefer white skin. I am a nice papersack brown and I love my skin. I have never preferred one type of skin over another (except when it comes to poultry!).

Bueno girl, i'm latina. Let me tell you, i'm tan...and i wanna be yet even DARKER,lol. Yes, there are people in this world who prefer lighter skin, but thats just taste. Being dark or being tan IS actually AND CAN BE better in a lot of ways due to the fact that the tiny flaws that are seen in light skin can be seen while the darker the skin, the less noticable they are. And in my opinion, being dark is most preferred than being light=). Everywhere you go, such as beaches, pools, hotel resorts, etc, in those places when do u not see light skinned ppl getting a tan?! Chica, its obvious, lol. Light skin is not the most preferred.

What do you mean? Not everyone prefers lighter skin. In some cultures *asian* the lighter your skin is reflects a better social and professional status.

In our culture, white people WANT to have the darkest tan they can get normally. Even some black people opt for tanning b/c it balances your skin tone.

Just because you're dark skinned doesn't mean people dont want to be seen with you. Maybe it's your attitude rather than your complexion

Actually, pasty white skin is not typically preferred. Tan white is much more attractive. As far as white women to black women to latino women etc. I have no preference, they are all beautiful...and most people I know feel the same way.

Who prefers white skin? Many white people do prefer it, but not everyone, and certainly not everyone with other skin colors.

I don't agree with you. it's just a matter of personal preference...some people like to stay within their own ethnic group. BTW: That's me in the picture...I am Latina and I have honestly gone out with more Caucasian guys than Latinos not because of their skin color but just because I am around them more than other Latinos. I love all complexions and most people do too...they just have a preference.
