Not eating for 48 hours or more can cause serious problems with a cat. If you know a special food she likes I would try to see if she would eat that. So do watch her closely. Did the friend say she was eating OK?

She's pissed off because you left her and she wants you to know. Animals are very 'here and now' and don't understand you will come back. She felt abandoned and missed you. You could also check with your friend who was watching her on if they fed her extra yummy stuff because you were gone. I have a dog who will get accustomed to the extra yummy and won't eat regular food for some time after being spoiled.
Try giving her something super yummy. If you don't normally giver her canned food, pick up some quality canned food to tempt her. If you normally give her canned food, give her a can of tuna or salmon (preferably low salt but regular is ok if it's only this once). Or some cooked chicken meat, no fat or bones.
If this doesn't work, watch her carefully for the next couple days. If she seems lethargic, and especially if she stops drinking water, take her to the vet.
I have another trick I use when my cats are finicky or if I have a friends or new housemates cat I'm caring for who has 'escaped' and won't come back to the house (I live in a rural neighborhood and they'll hang in the brush around the house and not come when I call). I put a salmon head or salmon backbone or other salmon waste in a pot, just cover it with water and let it simmer over low heat. "Cat soup" usually has every cat within a 1/4 mile on my deck drooling within about an hour. (Don't give the cat any bones or scales.)
Good luck!

Is she losing weight or showing other signs of ill health? Does she appear to be in any discomfort when she's eating? If there is nothing else noticable wrong she is probably just making you feel guilty. That I have experienced many times from my cats and I travel quite a bit. No healthy animal starves itself so if you are really concerned take her to the vet but it could be that she's getting fed elsewhere. She'll probably get over it in a day or two but do keep an eye on it (without letting her know you are concerned because that will make her worse) not eating in cats can become very serious quite quickly.

hmmm...that is strange. You say your friend said she was eating fine, huh? I suppose it could be that she's mad at you! Trying to teach you a lesson maybe? It could also be that she has eaten something foreign, I would watch her closely for a while. If she starts acting funny, she may have a cold, or maybe your friend gave her something she shouldn't have and now she has an upset stomach. Whatever the case may be, any distinct personality changes means something isn't right and she needs to go to the vet.

Take your cat to the vet and have her checked out. Not eating or using the litter can be a sign of several serious conditions/illnesses. I won't scare you with what those could be since it could be any number of things. TAKE HER NOW!

even though your friend was watching her, she probably is hissed off that you left her. i agree with the other responder, give her a few days, she won't starve herself, but if she quits eating all together then call your vet. do you feed her moist or kibbies? if you ususally feed her moist(canned) try leaving some kibbies or a food like deli-cat out . she may eat it while your not looking

I would be worried and would take her to the vet for a checkup. There has got to be some reason why she is not eating. Does she act sick or have diarrhea? Have you changed her brand of food?

this is your cats way of saying, "I don't like it when you are gone." "I want attention" just give your cat some extra attention and then if he doesn't eat, you should take him to the vet. my dogs do this when we go on a trip. they won't eat until we sit down and give them lots of attention.

The cat will eat when it gets hungry, don't worry - don't let the cat dictate who's in charge - you are in charge, correct?
