Lexapro has been very effective for social anxiety for the past several years. No panic attacks, no more headaches or backaches, better self esteem...but I need to nap now & then & I've gained about 10 lbs of belly fat...yuk!

I'm on Wellbutrin XL for my anxiety, and I'm a completely different person I was a year ago. It's worked great for me, and I've had no weight gain that can't be directly attributed to the holidays or other special event. It saved my life and my marriage. I recommend asking your doctor about it.

Wellbutrin XL (not the other forms) seems to work well for some people with anxiety, but not all. The 'XL' form is a 24-hour extended release form. Here's link to patient's ratings and comments on various drugs.

Yeah, I think Wellbutrin works for social anxiety too.
I have used both and think they both work well.

I didn't know Lexapro caused weight gain....
so THAT'S what did it!

I used Welbutrin awhile back for anxiety. I got off it because it made my migraines come more frequently. So if you were already prone to headaches, I would not recommend it.

Speak to your doctor. He/SHe's the only one qualified to help you. I'm on both, constanly need to nap, and my appetite is on automatic. I'm just a big mess.
