A Jewish person is someone who practices Judaism or is of Jewish descent.
Jewish people are both a religious and ethnic group, so even if someone doesn't practice Judaism, they can still be Jewish by origin.

The brief reply is sensible. Jewishness is a an ethnicity, a nationality, AND a faith. The simplest manner for Western cultures to comprehend this, is to don't forget that within the formative days of Judaism, the modern day thought of the country-state didn't exist. The dominant social institution past the loved ones unit was once the tribe. If you comprehend the Jewish folks as a tribe, it's handy to look that: - Most Jews are Jewish due to the fact they had been born into the tribe. - The Jewish faith is the dominant cultural characteristic that binds tribe individuals in combination - It is feasible, however very tricky, to be utterly permitted into the tribe by way of following a adequate quantity of cultural (devout) practices, beneath the professional auspices of a identified formal chief (ie/Orthdodox Jewish Rabbi) Historically, Jews had been outlined as a race (Third Reich Germany) and a nationality (USSR). English talking westerners are extra the exception than the rule of thumb, as our secular tradition has made faith and nationality a lot more specific from each and every different to a better measure than ancient international cultures.

Someone who is Jewish is someone that descends from middle eastern people called Hebrews. The Hebrews where divided up into 12 tribes. The vast majority of Jewish people today come from 3 of those 12. The 3 tribes are Benjamin, Levi, and Judah (that's where the word Jew comes from). The other 9 tribes where scattered into the nations through Babylonian captivity over 2,500 years ago

the original meaning was an origin-- Judeans were called a Jew. I live in Florida so I would be considered a Floridian-- so if you lived in or came from Judea you were a Jew. people now associate the word with a race of people- how this came about I am not sure-- look in your Bible- there were 12 tribes of Israel and they were not all Judeans- or Jewish--but the reason we remember who they are is because they continued to follow God and His ways where the other tribes did not and were dispersed throughout the world-- the Jews still keep the commandments of God so we still recognize them and the rest of the tribes of Israel are still in dispersal until Jesus returns and brings them back together again----when you accept Jesus as your Savior you are grafted in to the family of God--- the children of Israel are His children- not the Israel you think of when you read the news- do not confuse the two-- just read your BIBLE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Jewish is short for Jerusalem. Israel has 12 tribes and one tribe is Yehuda (Jew). I always think of Jews as Israelis.

Jewish isn't a religion, its a nationality. Like Africans, Europeans, etc. The LORD God revealed God through Israel. The LORD God is the God of Israel. But Israel doesn't accept Yeshua Messiah. But some Israelis / Jews do accept Yeshua Messiah.

Later, every knee shall bow and tongue confess Yeshua Messiah Yahweh / Adonai.

The Jewish faith believes in the Old Testament of the Bible, they believe Jesus lived, but they believe he was a mortal man and NOT the Messiah. It is a religion practiced in many countries, not a race. So, they worship God, but are not considered Christians.

Jewish is a religion, The jews believe that the messiah (Whom the Christians believe is Jesus) hasn't come yet.

The common misconception that Hitler's mother was Jewish does not appear to have any truth to it.

Jewish is a derivative of both. Judaism is the religion, Hebrew is the people. The Jews our considered direct descendants of Abraham through his wife, while the Arabs are the descendants of Abraham through his servant (slave). Now you know why Arabs have an inferiority complex. Their Daddy didn't recognize them as coming from a legal relationship with God!

Okay, for the 500th time, HITLER WAS NOT PART JEWISH. HE HAD NO JEWISH PARENTS OR ANCESTORS! He was raised in a Christian household. Jewish is a religion and a heritage, but not a race. Come on, people, don't you know what race means? There are 3 races on earth: Caucasian, *******, and Mongoloid. Everyone on earth falls into one of those categories.
