I've been at it for 4 years now, and judging by what i can and can't do, the best combo is:
1. A sick strong core. Keeping you gut tight helps alot on foot work.
2. Forearms from hell. We don't use biceps much at all but its a good idea to keep your self balanced.
3. Small fingers seem to be a great asset when bouldering or doing anything really crimpy. If your hands are tiny I wouldn't worry too much.
The best advice I can give you is to start in a group/ class at your local gym. They cover all the basics and get you started with people of a similar level. Keeping your mind on just having fun with the rock is a good idea as well.
Its great to hear new people getting started, and I hope you have fun.

it depends what you are climbing...
if you are climbing fat cracks, big hands are better
if you are on a thin face, littlle hands are better.
the best way to test the stress on fingers is to buy a hand stress tool at a local climbing shop. i have one that looks like a donut, and it is a good hand stress tool. it is a good way to test hand strength, exercise, and simulate the muscles needed.
your core strength needs to be strong...meaning your tummy muscles. and contrary to common belief, your legs need to be strong. think about it, your leg muscles are (or should be) larger than your arms; therefore, your arms will burn out faster if you just use them. think of climbing of climbing a ladder....of sweet granite.

No as long as they have good equipment. You need to have strong fingers and legs in order to rock climb.

do not rip the flaps off basically let them dry out, try some surgical spirits basically to dry it out in spite of the undeniable fact that it truly is going to sting like a b.tch, then get some mountain climbing tape for next time you pick to climb so it doesn't worsen. As for waiting to climb lower back i agree supply it an afternoon or 2, even as drying it out yet use the tape else it will rip lower back.
