Seriously! Didn't Jesus say to never kill? By printing millions of copies of the Bible, trees are dying along with the animals that live inside it or get food from it.

Last month I went to a hotel and when I went to my room there was this little desk with a little drawer. I opened the drawer, and what could it be but a BIBLE! And I've found a Bible in at least 15 hotels by now. COME. ON. Seriously, who reads a Bible at a hotel?? Save some trees for goodness sakes!!!

I'm just saying that Bibles shouldn't be put in random places where they would never be read anyway.

I agree with Ginger.

All books should be made with recycled paper.

I agree with you! Id rather people cared more for the environment and the animals instead of a story book, isn't everyone supposed to save Gods earth and the creatures in it? They should at least make them from recycled paper!

I have read a bible in a hotel. I've also used the hotel phone books.

Jesus did not say to never kill. God said not to murder. Killing animals to eat and cutting down a tree to make shelter are not murder.

You haven't starved to death yet, aren't you concerned about killing all those poor wheat plants? Is it wrong for a fish to eat a fish?

Grow up. You are human. Humans do not need to feel guilty for using a renewable resource.

Why don't you read the book next time you're in a hotel so that you know what you are talking about.

I personally spend many of my weekends taking care of a couple thousand oak trees, trimming low branches to protect them from fire and removing mistletoe. I am just amazed there are people as ignorant as you out there in the world.

Bibles are placed in hotels by the Gideon Society, which was founded to make Bibles available to groups that request them.

And even if you didn't find any use for the Bible in your hotel room, you'd be surprised how many people do. There are plenty of stories about people changing their minds about committing suicide or doing something else equally rash after reading from a Gideon Bible that they found in a hotel room drawer. Personally, I think the cost of a tree is minor compared to the cost of a human life.

Thousands of other people have found comfort and peace in the Bible at critical times in their lives. The Gideons have done a big service, even if not everyone appreciates them.

The problem is not in mass producing the Bible or any book. I say, the more books the better. The problem is making them out of a non renewable (or only slowly renewable) resource like wood pulp. Paper can be made cheaply from a yearly renewable crop of hemp. Not potent marijuana type hemp, but hemp that is still used throughout most of the world for making ropes. We're just puritanical idiots for overlooking one of the most useful plants on the planet because some varieties produce a mildly intoxicating bud.

God said don't kill people. And the proof that he was okay with us killing animals was that he gave them to us for food. Of course, I'm not saying that animals dying from having no habitat is okay. But really, the trees used to get paper are from "tree farms". Tons of trees are grown and replanted after being chopped down and animals don't tend to make homes there....to much human activity and pesticides to keep the trees heatlhy. And as to the trees dying, that's almost too silly to comment upon. Plants have no feelings. Do you feel bad for killing and eating a carrot? Didn't think so. And the reason Bibles are "mass produced" is that the more oppotunities people have to see the truth, the more likely they are to accept and God gave us the duty of leading as many people to Christ as we can. And actually, lots of people read Bibles that are left in such "random places".

He was speak of humans you dult and you should know it. Taking the Bible out of context is bad and if you seen 15 Bible why don't you sit down and read so you don't show how bad you look. DO you realise how much energy you wasted asking a question you knew the answer too? There are some people who appreciate the Bible and can't get it You are so hopeless I going to cry because you have no idea what people have done just so people could read it freely and have in their reach at any time.
And you cruel say thing like that! How could you...people who understood what it meant gave their live their love because they knew what that big book meant. You probley don't care either you don't care and you don't want to care. I care and there are so many people out there are so many people out there who do and some want to but they don even have the privilage of have a Bible in their hotels in their libaries in their country. And you know what!....the Bible is the most produced book for a reason but people like you produce more insane comment about have too many Bibles in our life. You can't fathon it can you. God loves so many people what did he do to you that make you hate him?..there must be a reason. Even though you hate him he still love you so much that he sent person in himself to bleed and die for you he died for you and you in return make fun pull his word out of context and say that there is to many Bibles?
You don't care. You don't understand it and you pretend you do that is being stupid in the truest form.
I you refuse him be quite and and hold you type.
I wish I could speack to you about this but this is as close as it gets. God have more mercy than usual on you. HE alway dose because he loves you.
HE LOVES YOU
HE LOVES YOU
And your breaking his heart.
As if this was your father who died to save you and you said " I don't return your love"
I love you too because he first loved me.

Putting the anti-religious idiocy of your question aside, you must have never been in a forest. Did you know that you can't save a tree because they actually will eventually die? Guess what? You can also plant new ones. I've seen old clear cuts that are now thick with new trees almost as big as the ones that were cut 40 years ago.

We can probably find some made on recycled paper. In fact, I think that is an excellent idea. Its the Gideons who purchase and place the ones in the motels and I truly think it should be suggested. See...I love trees too, lol, and I am a CHRISTIAN.

The Bible is the tree of Life, before it was written in paper it was written in the hearts of men, but know no matter how it is presented now people still reject it.

Jesus is the truth, the way and the life!

"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One"

If a Bible in a hotel can save even 1 person a year by her or him reading it and accepting Christ ,then it's worth it.
It's funny(and sad) how environmentalists have a beef about saving trees, but many of them don't bat an eye as millions of unborn babies are being killed.
