I agree with a draft also. Not just because of the war on terror. I believe that service to the country should be required of all citizens.
I don't believe that citizens should have all the freedoms that they enjoy, without some sacrifice or service to the country. Freedom is not free, and those people who think they deserve freedom, just because they were born here are wrong. They want to enjoy the freedom of criticizing the government, spouting their opinions about gay rights, abortion, racial equality etc, but they turn into cowards when someone even mentions mandatory service to your country. You can't and should not be able to have it both ways. I also think that a draft would help to give some of the thugs on the streets, who seem to think they are big,big men because they can cap an old lady and take her grocery money or bludgen a homeless person for shits and giggles, a little taste of what real life is. Taking orders, working as a team, having respect for your fellow citizens are a few things that can be taught. To those that say they will cut and run if there is ever a draft. Good bye chicken s-hit !!!!!!

There will not be a draft for the war in Iraq. It really isn't much of a war. It is more of a police action with U.S. and coalition troops trying to weed out the terroists and isurgents. Now if Iran invaded Iraq in order to attack the U.S, then there may be a draft, but Iran isn't that foolish or insane. That would absolutely end any aspirations they have of becoming any type of nuclear power.
However, in the event that there was a draft, then yes, I would be ready.

Ok well first thing is that no one would be able to reinstate a draft unless this country was directly under attack. So any pro or con about a draft is mute. I am a prior service military member and also an American with a brain. The public and government would not be willing to reinstate a draft in the near future at least, and maybe never.

50 million people voted for Bush so I would bet the line to join the military will be 20 miles long. Yes Sir!! The neocons can't wait to join up. I can see it now. The republicans will beg their children to go. Yes Sir!!! Let"s get the draft going!!

Ive served my time in the military, ive been to Iraq. I was in Desert Storm and in the openining of Iraqi "freedom". And im very much against this war. But you know what? I think a draft is exactly what we need. Start drafting some of these clowns kids who blindly support our war president and are willing to give him a free pass to do anything he pleases. start drafting these people and their kids. Maybe thats what it will take to wake them up to whats really going on.

It is important that we win this war on terror, and continuing to carry out our day-to-day lives, as you put it "go shopping!!!" we are not giving in to the enemy. The whole objective of the terrorist is to disrupt the American way of life.
As far as the draft is concerned, I have always thought there should be one. The youth of this nation could use the discipline given by the military.

I would prefer not to see a resurgence of the hippy culture from the seventies. Anyways, a draft might be intriguing to see despite me being elgible. If it came around, you can be sure I would search for a loophole if it meant an idiotic deployment to Iraq.

Doesn't matter if you are ready for one or not.
There CANT be a draft in the next year and a half, they are testing the draft system, and that precludes actually DOING one.
So even if you're ready to be drafted, the government ISNT.

If they did it..........you'd be a huckleberry!
The only draft I'd like to see is a cool breeze on a warm summers day.
I also think you're very naive to accept a draft sponsored by a man who dodged it himself in favor of cocaine use.
If he thinks it's so important then why doesn't he enlist his drunken daughters?
