I started to read the Bible once again now that I understand more of it, and I read about Sodom and Gomorrah and about sodomy and such. This got me to wondering... is masturbation a sin? Any answers I would like decently simplified and references

God created sex and the desire for such things not only to procreate, but for a husband and a wife to engage in. It is not only for procreation, but for a husband and a wife to unite together as one. THe sexual experience was never meant for one person to enjoy it by him/herself. OUr bodies are temples and are God's until we give them to our spouses. THus, masterbation is considered among those inappropriate sexual acts that are not approved upon in the bible. In fact, we are to abstain from lustful thought and such, which usually accompany masterbation. THus, we are not to lust after someone, look at inappropriate pictures, or tempt ourselves in this way.

The bible says absolutely nothing about masterbation. But christianity preaches that any kind of sexual gratification that doesn't result in procreation is a sin.

I am not Christian but no, I would not consider masturbation to be a sin. It is natural to feel the need to masturbate. Besides, it never said it was wrong in the Bible. ;)

Well... you know the old addage "What do you do if you come across a Grizzly bear?..... You wipe it off and run like hell." OK... the bear would think it's a sin. Why would you worry about anyone ELSES opinion?

yes, because when u masturbate, your lusting over someone, jesus equated lust to adultery, therefore masturbation is committing a form of adultery and therefore a sin.
