No, the animals were to die for a reason. To show man what death was. In the beginning no one was meant to die.
So when God told Adam if you do that, you will die.
This enabled him to know what death is. Being perfect he should have understood completely. They do not think like we do.
When I grow up i will have children and find someone to bred with. that is why it is ridiculous when people say I am going to let them have babies. Or not get them nutered because they will miss having a family. Males eat the babies.
So they hardly grieve over losing one. I don't think they should be killed for food that is disgusting. But they cannot contemplate forever or the future.
