Pretty sure it already is...

In the eyes of the law, a gay couple should have the same protection as a straight couple. The sticking point currently is marriage.

I define “marriage” as a church (but it could also be in a registry office) ceremony between a man and a woman. Note the use of inverted commas.

Gay couples shouldn’t get “married”, but Civil Partnerships (can’t we think of a better name than that?) should be viewed in the same light by the law. They are no less stable and no less loving. “Marriage” is just a word, what it means to the individual is of much more importance, a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet…if the church want to keep the word, let them have it.

I have no issues with gay couples adopting children, as long as they provide a stable and loving up bringing for the kid. Let’s face it they would do a much better job than a 14 year old girl on council estate.

What scares the pants of homophobes the world over is how normal and similar they are to straight people, once you scratch the skin.

Gay people deserve the same rights as anyone else.

Excuse my ignorance but I was not aware that being a member of the gay community was illegal act. If however you are wondering if gays should be allowed to legally marry then I would have to say that I am in full agreement with Civil Unions being allowed as a pledge by these individuals. Here in Canada gays are allowed to unite and take their vows through a service known as civil unions and there have been many members of the gay community from around the world come and take advantage of this as their home countries do not recognize or allow gay unions.

yes, you can't prohibit people's right to choose. What if someone asked should being straight be legal? It's the exact same thing. I think the homosexuality is wrong but that is just one person's opinion. You can't decide for someone that what they are doing is against the law. What if you had a friend that was gay and it was illegal...would you turn them in...that's a stupid question.

This is not a controversial topic. Being gay isn't illegal. It currently is legal to be gay. There is no law against it.

It is legal! If it were illegal, gay people would be over populating the prisons and jails. I think its to each their own, and each person has the right to do whatever they want with a willing, of age sexual partner. Its noone elses business!

i think so. I'm not gay at all. I don't really like the idea. But it is a free country and people should be able to be gay if that is what makes htem happy

the bible doesnt agree with gays so ovbiously its not the way God intended it.

although it did say in the bible that everything that is wrong will turn to right before the world ends, thats why everyone seems fine with it nowadays for some reason..

doesnt bother me that much i wouldnt say anything to anyone who was gay and i have gay friends. im just saying.

Check the Constitution... it's the same amendment that was redefined to allow abortion and before that birth control. Although there are some states that still have laws against sodomy. So that begs to wonder... state laws versus federal laws??? It's confusing...

Being gay isn't illegal anyway... people are allowed to be gay. They're just not legally allowed to be married.
