inadequate around my friends and this is causing her to do silly things. She says she does not fit into our financial circle and I have reassured her and told her that no one is judging her at all, what else do you think I can do?

You can try and hang out at places that she might consider more "her style." Invite your friends too and she will see that people are not all about being in expensive places and having expensive things. What matters are the people you choose to spend your time with.
Talk some of your girl friends into having a "Girls Night Out" and invite her. This might make her feel more "in" when she really get to know some people, instead of just seeing them from a spectators point of view.

explain to me one thing - financial circle???? what is that all about. honestly, i would feel inadequate around your friends if it was called a financial circle. not dissing you by any means, but i'm just not understanding. if she's feeling judged by your friends, perhaps it's just because she's intimidated by them. reassure all you like - it may not work. she needs to actively reach out and make friends with each of them.

It's rough feeling like you don't fit in. I can totally relate. Growing up my family didn't have much, and it does affect how you feel about yourself unfortunately. Maybe plan some activities where money isn't an issue - playing cards, having a house party, etc. Ultimately she needs to work on her self esteem, and dwell more on her strengths than on what she doesn't have.

Make sure she's included in your conversations with your friends. Try not to leave her out of anything.
