Just curious of first impressions.
My Mom and I don't share the same religious beleifs, and my uncle - her brother will soon go in to have surgery. She mentioned that my Grandmother (who shares the same religion as Mom) put him on the prayer list. I offered to do the same, and she seemed VERY uneasy about the offer, saying that she didn't want anyone from the church coming to her house. Finally she said that she guessed that was my decision as I am a grown woman. I'm baffeled at her answer. Prayer is prayer as long as it's to God. And don't quite understand why she would think someone would come to her house just because my uncle's name was on a prayer roll. I thought maybe I'm just not understanding correctly, and decided to ask YA.

If the prayer were not offered through our intercessor, Jesus, it would be a waste of that person's time. But, what a wonderful opportunity to share the truth with a friend.

The key phrase there is "loved one". I've had relatives and in-laws pray for me, even when I don't profess the same religion as them, and it all boils down to one thing- these people care enough about you that they're including you in their best thoughts and wishes. Why anyone would get offended by good wishes is beyond me. Positive wishes are positive wishes, no matter where they come from.

No, I think God listens to all prayers of good intentions, even if they're done a little differently.

I don't think I'd care. Good thoughts are good thoughts, regardless of the application.

Well if they prayed to God then I would be OK with it....if they prayed to someone else I wouldn't let them.

Why would this offend you? Personally, I don't know who is right... but would it truly hurt to have more people pray?????
