Going over the counter--I would go with either ibuprofen or aleve. Also using a hot wrap will help calm the nerves.

I really dont like telling people take this and take that...each person is different and our bodies are totally different and you can have a reaction to such medications. Have you ever tried manual traction? cervical traction? this is where the therapist with their hands pull the cervical area...in some way it stretches the cervical area and it relieves any tension in that area. Stretching the neck can help greatly.
Hope you feel better with some stretches to relieve some of the tension in that area.
Good luck ^i^â¥â¥â¥

I like Aleve, it is an anti- inflammatory rather than a pain reliever. And you only take it every 12 hours.

Aleve for over the counter as well as a hot water bottle. If it continues you should see your doc before you cause any real damage.

Nothing helped me until I had a cervical discectomy with cadaver bone wedges, a titanium plate and screws. Then I got relief.
