many go to a specific chuch becase the preacher inspires them or what he teaches rings their bell, and this has led to powerful preqchers who are not always good people.
Prioritize your objectives.
When I first started going to church my objectives were different than now. Then they went like this.
A good bible teacher who taught right out of the Bible, which is called an expository teacher. One who knew and used Greek while ferrteing out interpretations. That was number one because I was new to studying the Bible and wanted to gobble as much up as I could.
Second was the people, and did I like them
third was about the church and how it was organized
fourth was the denomination and what does it use as it's basic beliefs.
Now I already have a better grasp on the scripture than most preachers so my priorities are different.
Now what church I go to is part of my witness and so first thing is it must be non denominational. and my priorities go from there. The actual membership or people who attend regularly have more importance than one thinks when they are younger. Having a good group who supports your needs for fellowship and helps you improve your walk is something we all need cuz often we are so used to the secular way that we do not even know we are walking in error.

The Church must have the Christian foundation. The Pastor should be a faith / bible Pastor.
There are always people in the Church who are on the edge and haven't yet confessed Jesus Christ Lord. They aren't born of God yet. Then there are those who are babies. Then there are carnal Christians. Then there are more mature Christians. Then, there are hypocrites.
The number of people who are on fire for the Lord would depend on the messages of the Pastor. Is the Pastor a victory in Christ Pastor? It also depends on if they love God, are they hot, cold or lukewarm.
The Pastor must be called to Pastor by the Lord. It is written that the Lord calls some to Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor & Teacher. This is called the 5 fold ministry.
You want to go to a church that believes the bible is the Word of God. That you can get fed at the church. Also, that there is a time to praise / worship God. And that the Lord wants you to be at this Church. God knows the Church that is right for you and also has a calling for you at that church.
My Pastor at River of Life Fellowship, Kent WA receives from the Lord through prayer, etc. what to preach to the congregation. He wants people who are seeking God to go there.

Since the Bible has given us the criteria of the true people of God, what we can do is to ask or read their believe and see if they practise it.
Matthew 7:21-23
7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
7:22 "Many will say to Me in that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
7:23 "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
Revelation 14:12
14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here [are] those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 22:14,15
22:14 Blessed [are] those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
22:15 But outside [are] dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
Luke 4:16
4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
John 13:
13:12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?
13:13 "You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for [so] I am.
13:14 "If I then, [your] Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
13:15 "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

Go to the Church that Jesus Himself founded. "Thou art Peter and upon this rock I shall build my Church". St Peter was the first Bishop of Rome, (the first Pope) head of the Catholic Church,
This is the Church that, guided by the Holy Spirit, compiled the book we now call the Bible. The Bible is thus the manual of the Catholic Church, so why trust anyone else to interpret it?

Since Jesus left Peter in charge (John 21:15-17), I only consider churches that are in communion with Peter's Successor. I then narrow it down based on which has liturgies that match my spirituality, what time those liturgies are scheduled, and how well I 'click' with the priests.
