Simple answer - Yes. You may require an ADR liscense etc - seek advise - the penalties are huge for very minor infractions in the order of £1000+ fines

Only if you have 50 gallons or more. If you have the 50 or more then you are required to have a haz-mat endorsement on your license. The placards would be #1203 for 50 and more. D.O.T Officer.

i suppose it would depend on how much gas. but i would personaly, due to the fact that if you had an accident, then the emergency services would be able to assess the situation better and possibly save more lifes.

Depends on how much you are carrying. Three or four for yard tools or motor bikes, no. Check with the DOT on what the limit is.
