They bow there head a bit and literally try to be smaller, like a tortoise pulling it's head in. Or they will move away to fade into the background, during interaction. Does this help? Nice question Thanks. Cheers. Hope this is kind of what you wanted or may be not.

I would say nervous looking around, or just looking around in general (avoidance of eye contact for more than a few seconds). Also, tendency to not speak a lot (especially in a group setting).

Sometimes shyness is confused for low self-confidence since some of the signs are similar.

I notice their attitude. Where they have their attention focused to. whether they have eye contact and how fast they turn red. Def a sign of shyness. And whether they take place into a conversation.

That they do not make eye contact and are very uncomfortable in the present situation. This makes me uncomfortable and I definitely notice that.
