Of course its safe. Unless you have some weird medical condition. You can fly clear through your pregnancy, although most doctors dont want you to after your 3rd trimester because you'd be too far away from your hospital.

It's completely safe to fly in the first 3 months of pregnancy. I'm speaking from experience -- my wife and I have taken flown on three trips during her pregnancy -- all of them within the first 3 months.

In fact, that's the best time to take trips. You're not so big and uncomfortable that it's hard to go anywhere, and obviously there's no danger of going into labor (which is why I've heard airlines generally don't like anyone beyond 7 mos. pregnant flying). The only concern is that you might be very sick during the first trimester, and flying may aggravate that.

But I've never heard from our doctor or any other source that it's not safe to fly in the first trimester. I say get out and travel if you have the chance--you may not be able to again for a while!

Yes, in your first and second trimesters, although if your pregnancy is complicated by medical problems such as spotting, diabetes, high blood pressure or a previous early delivery, check with your GP before travelling. Also check with your GP if you are going abroad so that you can discuss any possible problems.
You may find that your second trimester - weeks 14 to 27 - is a perfect time to travel. With morning sickness behind you, your energy levels high and chances of miscarriage low, you can enjoy the luxury of relaxing, sleeping in and dining late with your partner. You can also take advantage of travelling light - with no car seat, pushchair, nappies or toys in tow.

Airlines are sometimes unwilling to carry women who are past their 28th week of pregnancy because of the risk of premature labour. Ticket agents won't ask if you're pregnant when you book a seat, but you could be questioned about your due date at the gate. In fact, an airline can bar you from travel if they are worried about how pregnant you are. To avoid delays -- and more importantly, to confirm it's safe for you to fly -- get written permission to fly from your doctor. The letter should state that you have been examined and are not likely to go into labour in the next 72 hours.

Yeah it's safe... most women don't realise that they're pregnant til after the first trimester anyway and travel and drink and smoke. I read that it's better to do ur travelling in the second trimester thou as it's more comfortable for u and u're not that big and if u have no worries about ur health, ie blood pressure, etc, then it's fine. My sis travelled right from she was pregnant early on and went on holidays when she was 7 - 8 months pregnant. She and baby were grand.

Rather you shouldn't fly near the last month of your pregnancy - incase you need medical attention, and also avoid flying with your newborn child (the altitude and low radiation levels can cause mild negative effects at such an early age)

Don't fly for the first 7 weeks and the last 7 weeks, thats the advice from the insurance companies anyway. They usuall lean on the side of caution so I would go with their advice.

My doctor told me that I was safe to fly up until my 8th month. Haven't you ever seen a pregnant flight attendant?

It's perfectly safe.

It's fine to fly, its only in later preganancy that they stop letting you, around 34 weeks, this is to safeguard you delivering mid flight!

If you are worried or anxious, my advice is not to bother flying. Dont get your self stressed out about it.
