Options:
1. take the little rubber ring off the bracket (square) and get a friend with a pair of tweezers to reattach it - not the best idea, it will probably come off again anyway but it might stop the wire irritating you.
2. If the wire is bothering you get a friend (easier than you, they can see better) to cut it with a pair of nail clippers close to the next bracket along. Get them to keep hold of the free end while they cut so it doesn't ping around your mouth. They'll probably replace the archwire at your next appointment anyway.
3. Keep the bracket. They might reuse it, they might not.

Right I am a dental nurse and have some info about your orthodontist. If he/she is nhs she has to see you within 24 hours (obviously some people will be treated quicker if they are in pain) according to nhs guidelines. If she is a private ortho then you are paying for the privilege and you have every right to be seen asap. Do not as some one suggested try to fix it your self as you may do yourself some damage. If your ortho still wont see you, ring the emergency dentist and they can fix it temporarily. The wire could cut your mouth and a broken ortho means it is not working properly. Good luck

That square thing is a bracket. Take it to your next appointment. If the wire is poking you ask them if you can pop in to have it clipped to make you comfortable.
(Try to ease off the Mentos. They're on the "no-no" list.)

If the wire is poking into your cheek and making your cheek bleed, you should go in and have it clipped. Your orthodonist should not make you wait until your next appointment if you are in pain -- you should be able to "drop in" for a clipping.
If you are not in pain or discomfort, then if your orthodontist says it's OK with him -- wait until next month.

Take it to the orthodontist, if you don't you might need to wait for another appointment to get a new one.
