No, patriotism is NOT a thing of the past! We should love our country, even if we don't agree with our leaders sometimes. That's what being free is all about!!
My family agrees with you. We love America, and we are proud to be Americans. We respect and support our troops. Our 5 year old daughter knows the Pledge of Allegiance, The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, God Bless the USA and You're a Grand Old Flag (I agree - Cohan is the best!). She also knows about the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWI, WWII, and the War on Terror. We have relatives in the military, and we are proud of them. My father-in-law and brother-in-law and nephew have all served. My father-in-law died in service to our country and our daughter is proud of him even though she never got to meet him since he died before she was born.

Patriotism was never higher or better, or more visible than it was on 9/11. Actually, in the days following 9/11. The United States had suffered a direct attack from a foreign country. the entire world was on our side. But leave it to the politicians to screw it up.
While I oppose the war in Iraq, I still am patriotic. I still remove my hat and place it or my hand over my heart when someone plays the national anthem. My children do the same and we do it proudly. This is respect for our flag, not for our politicians. It is out of respect for those who got us where we are today.
I think that the US is still one of the greatest places in the world to live today, and wouldn't trade it. By the way, yes I am a veteran.

Patriotism is alive and doing very well despite the Defeatacrats and left liberals want to destroy patriotism and God
America is full of patriots
They sing and dance, write songs, not many actors, dock workers, airline pilots, Garbage men, janitors, doctors and even a few lawyers all Patriots who Love the USA and our way of life
Patriots are everywhere not to mention those brave that serve to protect our country and freedoms

I consider myself a patriot, and I am fighting for our country's freedom all the time. Unfortunately, I'm fighting other Americans for it.
The word patriotism has been hijacked, and has come to mean "my country right or wrong." I don't believe in that.

I think patroitism is quickly going away...sadly people want to settle the issues we face with their heart instead of abiding by the laws...which have worked well for the USA for centuries! I consider myself a patriot...I call, fax, email congress everyday of my life to try to help stop this illegal alien amnesty....most of congress & our president seem to have forgotten all about our constitution.....

We are a great country with lots of diversity. But, I would be willing to bet that even though we differ within our country on many topics, if it come down to an attack on our soil, we would unify to protect that which we hold dear.
