The most affordable cooking school is going to be through your local junior college. I graduated from the World Renound California Culinary Academey...and I must say it is soooo expensive!!!!

How about trying out for Jamie Olivers 15 Restaurant? if you have the passion for cooking, chase your dream. Husband & I have our own restaurant in scotland + employ our son but sometimes it feels like we're flogging a dead horse. We have passion for our place / work, he doesn't.Go doorstepping, call at a restaurant you like the look of & ask if they have any vacancies or training available, sometimes its better to get training in a workplace than school as you'll learn far more + can often get 'in work' training as my son does at the moment. husband has the qualifictions to teach him + tutor comes once a week to do assessments. that way he gets paid while training. hope that helps, all the best

It depends on what kind of cooking you want to do but if you go to Caldesi, they are very good. I did Italian cookery there last year and loved their down-to-earth, no frills approach.

Why not try some of the local Collages near to where you live, some of them do some really good courses where they send you on day release to top Hotels/Restuarants where you will work with top Chefs

Mum or wife. Failing that, seek help from Delia's books.
