change the status of you Myspace profile from 'SINGLE to "IN A RELATIONSHIP"

My b/f of 6 1/2 months has his myspace profile set at "SINGLE" even though we are in a serious relationship.

I've kind of joked to him about changing it before and he just laughed and said, "Whats the big deal" and I let the subject drop.

However girls are always leaving flirty comments on his profile. One girl left a sexy comment just the other day.
Now, I want to know, should I ask him again to change it to reflect that he is indeed in a relationship????

I know if I ask him to change it in a non-jokey way, he will do it to shut me up. But in the back of his head do you think he will think I'm an insecure jealous girl who wants to control him?????

Should I leave it alone, or tell him I want his profile changed ????

Yes you are a nag. You are not married to him.
If he treats you good and is faithful why are you tripping over some myspace status?

You sound a tad insecure and men do not dig that.

Besides, if you make him change it and he wants to cheat, his status "in a relationship" will not stop him.

You need to learn what battles to fight.

I don't find that appropriate. I disagree with the first responder.

To me, if you are sleeping with this guy, and you guys agreed to see only each other, this is not a 'huge thing' and he should WANT to change his status to IN A RELATIONSHIP!

This is a sign (In my opinion) of a guy that is 'keeping his options open' and not serious about you. I do not believe you should have to ASK him to change it, he's telling you in a passive way that the relationship isn't worth 'admitting on the net' that he's taken. I would watch his behavior carefully. Be sure he's not cheating on you.

How 'sexy' was this comment.. did it sound like a 'continuation' of a comment between them? Or just an out of the blue - you look hot - kind of comment?

I don't know hun, but this is what I'm thinking. My BF is telling everyone we are engaged, even though we aren't quite yet (no money for the ring yet..). So he's clearly doing this on his own, and I haven't had to say a thing, nor would I.

I wish you all the best, and hope this works out for you. I do not think you are being unreasonable at all, and perhaps you should suggest that you each see other people .. and see how he takes that? If he DOES seem interested, then you do have your answer about whether or not he's serious about you.

Best of Luck!

Listen, a lot of girls are insecure and that's why they are on here telling you what a big deal this is.

It's not a big deal. IF all else is good in your relationship, why cause drama over myspace!

You need to trust him and remember you cannot control people.
If he's a cheat the status on his page will not matter to him at all.

He should change it on his own anyway, without you having to ask.

you may seem a little insecure, but who's not. (at least a little bit)

He's not leaving it "single" because it doesn't matter. That's a lame excuse. It sounds like he likes the attention he's getting from these other girls, and doesn't want that to stop. Whether or not he would act on it, I don't know, but by keeping his status as single, he's not showing much commitment to you.

Whether he thinks it's a big deal or not, it means something to you, and he should change it out of respect for your feelings.

I'd tell him to change it. If you're in a formal relationship and he's happy with it, his status should be changed, it's a matter of respect and reflects a lack of complete commitment on his part.

Maybe drop some comments of your own on his myspace, flirting with him but visibly establishing yourself as his girlfriend ("can't wait to see you at dinner tonight darling," etc) and gauge his reaction. At least you'll be present on his profile.

I usually say something nice. I actually try to boost there confidence a bit but I try to include a bit of the truth. Sad that stupid pricks come on here and say something that may be true but does not have too be said. Heck, most of it is not even true! Some girl told me I needed plastic surgery. So now I am not relying on these people to tell me who I am because they just say something mean cause they can. Ha, needless to say the girl was a mean ***** and went around everyones answers saying there ugly. How nice right? Hope I have helped!

You my friend are not a nag. I believe what you are sayin is normal in realationships. Im sure it bothered you when he laughed at what u said. Myspace is somethin that is changin the way people are. You have to tell your bf that he needs to change it and also let him kno why he has to do it. After you tell him all that, then you should tell him bout the lil comments his "friends" are leavin him.

Don't bother. I'm sure you've gotten your point over to him, and he just wants to have his cake and eat it too. If you have your site marked "single," you're presenting to the rest of the world that you're single. It's that simple. He isn't in a committed relationship, you are, and if he were committed to you, you wouldn't need to ask this question. Out of respect and caring for you, he would have made the correction on his own. I hope this helps good luck!
