i found a wondeful poem last year for someone in my family that died, im going to try and find it for you, ive only answered now so i dont lose the question, so ill be back, also im very sorry for your loss........
this is one we used for the local paper
Your presence we miss
Your memory we treasure
Loving you always
Forgetting you never
and this is another one we used
A special person, a special face
Someone we love and can't replace
Never selfish, always kind
These are the memories he left behind, i cant find the long one we used for the funeral, but i will keep looking for you!
the last one we used for paper was
A bouquet of beautiful memories
Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you
If just for a few more years

Sorry to hear of your loss, but i thought i would share this poem with you, that was read at my nan's funeral. she died of cancer too.
The Life That I Have
The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours
The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.
A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

Not a poem but a beautiful sentiment nonetheless. I heard Al Wilson with the Denver Broncos say it at Darrent Williams funeral this last week:
"I have always been told that we should weep at the birth of a child because of the trials & tribulations they will face in life but rejoice in their death because they are with God & in a better place".

Please accept my condolences. I lost my aunt to cancer, and her daughter just had breast cancer surgery two days ago.
You might do some research into what your dad did as a hobby or pastime, and mention that. If he had friends, either in the community, or farther away, ask them to give you a quote about your dad that you can include.
Bless you!

Just tell people that he was very much loved. Get across what YOU want them to know . Though i dont thin you should make it depressive , i doubt he would have wanted that .
sorry , x

im really sorry for your loss, it must be really difficult. i dont know anything to suggest poem wise, but just say something truthful, and from your heart. something that feels right, and something he would have liked. sorry.
