Ok, I'm getting married August 11th in the south. My dress is a slightly two tones ivory/caffe colored dress. Its strappless with a beaded top part, and the bottom half is satin and smooth. Im prob gettingmarried in the evening, but unsure. What would look good for wedding colors in the hot summer, with a dress my color and it not being 'white'. I was thinking black brides maids dresses with all of us having red roses but im a little afraid it wont look that great. I was wanting to make it look 'southern' and 'summery' but my dress to me is a little more fancy than a clean, simple 'summer' dress. Any suggestions?

Ok, Just so ya know, the dresses will be (hopefully) tea lenght and strapless. This will help with them being black and strapless. I dont wont fall colors because it will still be summery and super hot at this time of year. NO YELLOW or orange, but thanks for the suggestions on it.

Hi! I am getting married in August too and those were my original colors. Black bridesmaid dresses With red and white roses. I think that is so beautiful. I love that you are doing tea Length too. I had to change my colors for the dresses because everyone was complaining they would be hot. I do regret that because the event will be air conditioned. We don't live in the stone ages. But, you will be fine with those colors. You are not supposed to blend in with the bridesmaids. You should stand out. Let your bridesmaids blend with each other. Your pics will be adorable with those colors. Enjoy your day.!!!

The most popular color for this summer is actually Chocolate Brown - which would match your dress beautifully! Some popular summer combos:
Chocolate Brown and Pink
Chocolate Brown and Blue
Chocolate Brown and Lime Gree
My personal favorite is Chocolate brown and pink, both of which go very well with ivory and caffe. I would suggest tea length chocolate bridesmaid gowns with pink sashes if you like sashes, and a bouquet of ivory and pale pink blooms and chocolate brown accents.
Red and Black would work as well - but if you want a "summery" look, red is very much a fall/winter color. For a summery look, you will want to go with lighter colors and pastels.

I'm southern! Why not include some red but use limegreen and deep purples? I worked at a florst for 2 years and this is one of my fave color combos! You could use red roses or gerbera daisies, lime green buttons, and purple status or even the deep purple calla lillies. I have to tell you that I hope you don't do all red simply because it is soooooooooooooooooooooooo overdone! I think if you were to introduce those other bright colors in, it would be really bold and summery and look great with both the ivory/cafe and the black! a tiny bit of Yellow would look really pretty mixed in with it to if you wanna give it a chance! I'm with you on the orange tho! ugh! Also, I think it would be really pretty to do hot pink, purple and lime green stuff, but either the red or pink would be GEORGEOUS!

I'd say white, silver, and a yellowish tone of some kind. Or Mix it up and it be Silver and Yellow. Or you can throw black in there. I would try to get inspired by the place setting. if it's at night, or sunset, take sunset colors..yellowish and oranges with silver? Maybe even just white and silver with accents of yellow. Depending on how much you want to use of each.
My wedding is gonna be in Hawaii on the beach..and we choose blues and yellows...from the sky and the beach.
For bridesmaids dresses maybe you can make them silver with a black ribbon around the waist or something. Black at night could be a little much? So whichever colors you choose i'd say black should be an accent. Or if black dresses, dress it down with a silver ribbon or even maroon?

You should use a "soft" colors for the bridesmaid dresses. If your dress is not white but an ivory color and your ceremony is going to be in the evening - a nice soft pale color like sage green or even a peach. I would steer away from the bright colors.

I don't know if black and red will look good with a ivory/caffe colored wedding dress. If you want black dresses that would look nice, but I'd change the flower color to ivory with burnt oranges and yellows.

You mentioned using red roses, but how about using red for the bridesmaid's dresses? Red can be fancy or simple, it can work in the evening or well...pretty much anytime, and it works well for the summer months as well as the winter ones. Not only is it versitile, but it sounds like the color of your wedding dress would match it pretty well too! Hope this helped...good luck!

OK, you're also going to be dealing with heat and humidity (I grew up in Atlanta and moved to Memphis). I would NOT do black (but I'm also assuming you'll be indoors), because it tends to be hotter anyway. But yes, it will look very elegant with red rose bouquets. An idea would be like a robins egg blue, or espresso color....that would look awesome with your gown. Maybe get the maid of honor's opinion, since you're waffling on this? Best of luck to you.

try lite or sky blue with a creamy yellow. it would be summery and the yellow cream would match your dress. if you want flowers on your bridesmaids dresses than i subject you use lillys. they are classic with a little southern spice to them. you want a bright wedding than i think you should go with bright colors (cream yellow and lite or sky blue). but if you want to go more evening ballroom than you should go with darker colors like burgundy or maybe a purple color. that's what my sister did for her wedding (the same theme as yours BTW) and it looked so amazing. the darker colors complement the delicateness of the cream colored gown. good luck. i'm sure what ever colors you choose your wedding will look amazing.
