Don't seem to be able to download Flash Player and get it to work. After trying the download it tells me that it has been successfully installed. However, it doesn't work. Have looked at various suggestions but all seem to lead back to the download page - and back to square one. Another suggestion was to use Firefox. I am quite happy using I.E. and Maxthon browsers so I need further advice or perhaps a viable alternative to flash that will work on XP SP1 & 2. Thanks for your help.

you will need to remove flash player from the add/remove program and then switch off your pc and restart it then go to www.adobe.com and download a fresh copy. this should solve the problem.

Ok, I don't know if this will be of much help, but since I had a very similar problem I'll share:
First, I downloaded the Flash Player as you did and saved the program files on my hard drive. I got the message that it had been successfully installed. Then each and every time I accessed a site requiring the player, I got a message saying that I didn't have the latest version, thus I could not access the sites I wanted. In order to access the sites, I had to go to my hard drive, locate the Flash Player program and run it again.

The problem went away as a by-product of addressing a different problem I was having with my PC through HP online support. To make a long story short, to the best of my understanding, several of my PC's files (in the registry???) were corrupt and I could no longer access the Internet period. When HP fixed that problem, I noticed I no longer had that problem with the Flash Player. I apologize if this answer sounds a bit convoluted, but it may be that your computer has the same underlying problem mine had and that you need manufacturer's online support to cure certain files before the Flash Player will function.
