'Slow fibres' burn fat, and they don't fatigue.

If you're wearing yourself out, it's because you're 'recruiting' FAST FIBRES, which burn sugar.

Activities which ONLY burn fat can be continued indefinitely, without feeling fatigue. As most activities need the involvement of both types of muscle fibres, you can classify them as more or less exhausting; the most exhausting use more sugar, which makes you more hungry, and causes you to cut the activity short. Although fatiguing exercise burns calories more quickly, it's a false economy.

For the best results, try to increase your session length, and reduce your intensity. Start by running more slowly. You are aiming to run at a speed that will not make you ache the next day, and a duration of 90 minutes (although you should plan to get there gradually).

This will be a very slow pace; the gym junkies surrounding you will be scornful, but ignore them.

You have slow (fatburning) fibres in all of your muscles, so you should also try to add GENTLE exercises for other bodyparts; ideally to end up doing a long, slow set for every bodypart, every day. This is one of the principles behind yoga.

If your intensity of exercise is too much for too long you will damage your body and probably burn out. Just think of it as coming up with a plan for a life change that you can work with day to day for the rest of your life. That doesn't mean you have to do the same thing everyday, but the same amount of work leading towards more challenging goals will do wonders for you. Unless you are a professional athelete or an olympic athelete, you don't need to run that much. You will have better luck burning your fat if you try variations in programs where you walk and jog at different speeds and inclines. You will also fool your body into thinking it is doing something different. Try to include some light weight lifting to buld more muscle which will burn more calories without bulking your body up. You could also try doing some pilates. There are lots of different options in home DVD's out there. Pilates is great for lenthening your muscles, improving balance and strength, and giving you a longer and leaner look. Remember, "variety is the spice of life" as they used to say. It doesn't sound like you are having much fun with your current routine. Try finding something you can enjoy. I am working up to some kick boxing and karate myself. I am still overweight, but I learned to make it more about health and fun. I am much happier, and easier to be around, than when I was skinny and working myself out like crazy.
P.S.
The injuries you get will end up coming back to haunt you sooner or later in some form. My stupitdity earned me bad knees and back problems that I will have forever. Don't make the same mistake. Good luck, and keep it fun!

You can do the same thing with sprints in 1/3 the time and have even a stronger heart and fat burning capabilities and build muscle all at the sametime!

Ever see a muscular endurance runner. Most look sickly. BUT checkout the sprinters!

I'll recognize you by your sickly look. You shouldn't be too hard to spot. You won't have a smile on your face. Hahahaha!

you're working too hard! you shouldn't be that sore afterwards! tone down the intensity of running and you will feel so much better and see better results! your body has reached a plateau. lay off for a few days and then go back to the gym. it's the best way to break this plateau.
